Steering Wheels/Hubs
#143
Made my 3 bolt to 6 bolt adapter. The replacement wheel from summit should be here today. Should be able to install it tonight and finally get pictures of the un-bendable 30 dollar wheel.
So, installed with QR didnt even drive it. Immediately removed QR and just went from the hub to the wheel and its at just the right length. So I need to find a flat wheel.

I got my NRG suede wheel installed today. The quality looks really good. It feels pretty solid but if you really crank on it, it will flex some, as far as actually bending it I'm pretty sure you'd have to put some extreme pressure on it. I put my foot on it and put a bit of weight on it and it didn't bend.

Yup, totally cracked the 12 dollar ebay hub adapter. Guess its only good for being tightened on 3 times and on the 4th time it cracks. On the fence if I should buy the 80 buck momo that I should have bought the first time or the 250 buck works bell short one. bear in mind the ebay adapter + a 3.5" dish wheel + 3/8 adapter plate is about perfect for me and I'm trying to switch to having the QR and a 1" dish wheel. I bought the Joes racing wheel this time the 13" diameter 1" dish. Damn my 5'4" legs and 6'0" rest of body (5'8" total).

Was just going to ask you how you adapted from the joes racing wheel to a 6 bolt hub because the joes racing uses the same bolt pattern as a 3 bolt Grant wheel except the holes are rotated in a way that actually makes sense. But it looks like you just used the joes racing weld in hub. Looks like I'll be machining another adapter, which is good because my grant adapter was a bit cockeyed.
Planning on covering this wheel in hockey tape. Should give me amazing grip with no need to wear gloves. Also this wheel weighs ******* nothing, like lighter than any of the omp or momo aluminum wheels I've held.

Arise! Arise from the dead, o abandoned thread!
So I'm looking at this wheel. It's 350mm, and from what I can tell, it's the cheapest Nardi/Personal wheel with real leather and not polyurethane. And I kind of like that the spokes are covered, gives it a more OEM look.
Personal Steering Wheel - EB 110-V Supersport - 350 mm (13.78 inch) - Black Leather
Thoughts?

OK, I don't know what you're talking about. I'm resetting this thread.

I think you're right... I've never seen a leather wheel as low as $156 new.
I'd find 350mm to be too big (and not worth removing the airbag for).
Have you thought about finding a used Nardi NB wheel?
You can keep the airbag, it's similar size, leather wrapped, and no hub adapters required.
(And, personally, I'm rocking the Momo 78 in 320mm. Leather for my 95 and ultra-pimp suede on my 94...)

I beg to differ, 350mm is an excellent size. The OEM wheel is about 370mm. Even though the size difference is small, changing to 350mm is very noticable.
This is my Momo steering wheel collection so far;
The 350mm with a fat grip is my favourite, lower right corner with period matching Marlboro button. See size difference between the wheels at the bottom, the one on the left is the OEM 370mm and the one on the right is the said 350mm.
Momo's in size 350mm is being used in about every 949 racing miata also, iirc. I'd bet both of my Miatas that it's a well thought through decision.
