For the track crew with tire trailers, what do you use for rear tow points? It's obvious what Bundy does, but I mean the rest of you with off-the-shelf hitches. Is there some way to bolt up standard tow eyes along with these hitches? I'm not planning to wad up the car anytime soon, but I know the guys manning the recovery truck appreciate you having proper tow points if **** happens and they have to drag the car out.

That would be very bad for me. With the trailer I'm just under 20' and pay the standard auto fair on the ferry to get to one of my autocross venues. one foot more ant the price triples.

The stock tow points are fine for pulling the car on flat ground or pulling a dead car off the track. They are horribly inadequate for pulling the car out of a ditch. A tow truck driver will rap around a lower A-arm every time I've seen it done.

Looks better than most to me. But somebody really needs to produce a product like what I came up with. I can take the whole hitch assembly off easier and quicker than you can access the pin to pull the receiver off that design where its placed behind the bumper. And my design leaves less than 1/2# still attached to the car when it is removed. FWIW my previous DIY hitch looked a lot like what FM came out with until I had a better Idea.

I bought a Curt hidden hitch from another NB owner and it's been awesome for the towing I have done. I bought a used tire trailer from a friend of mine and it fits my 15x9 6UL's with R888's just fine.

you could make on easy enough out of 1.25 x .187 wall tube. Then extend it so the Shackle pivot point is below the bumper. The swinging around and 20 sec to attach it don't bother me.
If your getting a 4 wheel pull on to the track. Odds are good you can still roll well enough that the loads will be minimal. It would be an issue if you went into a tire wall and did some suspension damage. Where the corner was just dragging along.

I wish. I think I'm just going to weld stock-ish loops onto the side mounting plates of my hitch that stick down about the same distance as the OEM tie-down loops.

Just picked up an enclosed tire trailer from a Miata Autocrosser. It's the Harbor Freight unit with a fiberglass and marine ply aero box built on it. He built stays in to hold 4 225/45/15's perfectly, has room for tool/junk boxes and headroom for folding chairs/canopy on top of it all. Seemed like a hell of a deal at $200!

Since I live in a 2-Miata house, I bought a trailer that could do more than move tires.
Using a DeLan Hidden Hitch and a Harbor Freight 5x6 trailer.

I just sold this one as I bought a truck and have access to a trailer to put my car in.

I think it was originally from Norther Tool. It has the bigger wheels and with the box loaded and the track wheels on it it was really well balanced. I could easily lift the tongue and move it around.

The only time I really noticed the trailer was behind me was when I'd hit bumps and it would rattle on the hitch.

I give mad props to Hustler if he actually backed his little trailer into that parking spot. I could not back mine at all. Was easier to just unhook it, move it to where I needed it and then hook it back up.

Looks like a nice setup there. I need to find a way to mount the spare tire underneath like that.

As for backing up these small trailers I thought it was impossible as well but finally figured it out. You just have to make minor adjustments far in advance.
