The car was originally tuned to ramp up to 300 hp as quickly as possible and then stay flat as we were planning on doing NASA time trials.

However on original spec miata 7" toyo RA1s and spec bilstein suspension as we were developing the car, I was struggling with drivability when getting the power down coming out of corners as turbo spooled up.

When we retuned off e85, I specifically asked him for a very linear, very progressive tune to help with drivability until we got the car reliable as I was not prepared to invest in new suspension, wheel and tires until the car was reliable

Car goes great now …..esp with new suspension, wheels and tires ….. but plan to keep tune this way until I get more familiar with car as it is fast enough the way it is and I'm more concerned about longevity than absolute power

I'm off to Hershey Park with family for next 2 days so will catch up with any new posts over the weekend

I'm surprised there were no wheel and tire comments. Are the 275s really faster on a track than the 245s with only 300hp? Thats a whole bunch of drag and rolling resistance.

I made 225whp at about 9.5psi on my 2871 with my built VVT motor. I also am hard pressed to see 300whp on pump gas at 11psi.

Ding ding. Your dyno plot isn't showing WHP.

Just so you know: we aren't ballbusting. It's a great build and an awesome car, no doubt, and I'm sure it's a blast. But we are all about verifiable and accurate claims. Gotta be careful with the numbers you throw around.

Either way, roughly 265ish whp at 11 PSI isn't bad at all, and that's probably more or less what you're running there.

I'm a walking anomaly, b****es

Hello from Hershey Park during afternoon nap time ……..

Ok, what you say makes sense and will discuss with Evans Tuning in 3 weeks. I asked him to tune to 300 rwHP but perhaps there was a gap in the communication…..

whatever the issue, 2 things spring to mind ……

(i) F**K me, the car is fast if it ONLY has 265 rwHP
(ii) it WILL have 302 rwHP in about 3 weeks time when retune!!!!!!!

Pocono was the first time on new suspension and hoosiers and I was nowhere near the limit of the car or the grip of the tires

Better to have a whole bunch of drag and rolling resistance than too little grip followed a big off……..

I'm a slow and steady type of guy (yes - both on the track and off ) so we'll continue making small steps in the right direction rather than big ones in the wrong direction…...

It's not flywheel torque, that's a quirk in Dynapack's viewing software. It's wheel torque.

Any reason you picked 300whp in particular? If you're just having fun and not worried about classing, I would just tune for 260ft-lbs across the board and take whatever hp that gets you (260ft-lbs being how much power bbundy was making when he broke his last 6-speed).

I see Wisco pistons. Maybe a bit more compression than stock?

Crap I must have missed something, I thought I saw ~310?

[Edit] here's what I saw last (your suggestion is probably for the best regardless)

looks like a dyno plot dominated by boost creep.

mine made ~325 hp at 14 psi on 92 pump gas but it is a stroker motor. Iteresting that I turn up the boost for autocross but when I log it it still doesnt make more boost on an autocross course. it simply is unable to load the engine enough in 2nd gear.

You need this with traction control

Oh god, power levels to rolling resistance. It's just like pre-6UL M.net all over again.

Man I dont know about your car, but on mine the 275s stick like 2 inches past the largest legal tire spats I can make, thats a lot of drag.
