They say that tires in F1 are about half the suspension travel in and of themselfs. Cool vid.

That's why I want to stop using my street tires at the track. I got like 3000 miles from my last set, maybe less.

Just spent 10 minutes trying to find a similar VW GTI film from the 70's, but there's too much crap on youtube. Imagine that shot with less sun glare on a tall street tire. I think the rim did actually touch the ground.

I love watching videos like that.

Tires are basically all the suspension travel in shifter karts, heh.

That is awesome!

So how much pressure do we need to run on street tires during an auto-x. At 27 I felt like my rear tires were folding over, at 30 things were better but I only got about 4 quick runs on a course I had never walked and it was cold. First agressive driving I had done in the car. Man I am going to miss ABS. It's been a while since I have threshold braked and that was on a car that I drove everyday for 10 years.

Depends on the tire and your suspension. I've seen some Pro E-Stock guys run 24-25 psi in their A6's and some guys in STS run 35 psi in an XS. My RT615s were always best at 27-32psi, usually let the rears 1-2 psi lower than the front. That worked best for me anyways, I had about a season and half on them.

I'll give 30 -35 a shot this weekend. My first real event and I know about nothing for Miata driving and handling, but I can read and memorize a track.

Thanks.

A guy I work with is going to Bathurst later in the year (where that video is filmed) to race his 993 turbo. So lucky!

The progressives banned alcohol and the moonshiners made whiskey. And they raced in an oval so you could see all the action from the bleachers. And Joseph Kennedy ran rum from the Bahamas to Massachusetts and made big money and gained influence that would later put his son in the presidency...

I digress...

Bathurst is an awesome track BTW.

Hey, everyone just loves the post race analysis on Speed all through mon/teus, then the analysis of the analysis weds, then the super important practice coverage and qualifying thrus/fri, and then the qualifying and racing sat and then the actual main event sun. That's all so important for a 500 mile race in cars that bear no resemblance to anything any of us will ever own of drive. No room for lame racing like WRC, super cars, BTCC, DTM, and SCCA and Nasa stuff. If there is room, I would much rather see shows about towing things, monster trucks, and idiots in suburbans rally crossing while calling it autoxing.
