And the caliper blew a seal again on the way home. Front passenger one, just like before.
I was supposed to autocross this weekend with it. Guess I am going to try and get the Fit ready for a day autocrossing... I don't really feel like pulling the stereo out...
I actually pulled the stereo out of the Fit and took it down to Warminster today. Was a lot of fun since I had three friends come down as well to run against.
My one friend has a 2001 Celica GTS with shocks and springs on newish Sport Comp 2's. Other friend has a nicely done up 2004 Sentra 1.8S with shocks, springs, sways, bushings, geometry mods and chassis bracing running on DZ102's. It is a nice quick car, fun to drive. Last friend brought his 2001 Imprezza 2.5RS on Yoko S.Drives.
My Fit has bilstein coil overs and 5 year old all seasons... and I whopped them all. Guess we need to autocross more so they can get better. Got the centra by 0.5s, subaru by 1s and the celica by 2s. Video to come of the Fit.
Replaced the front caliper and the rear one that had the parking brake sticking (they warenteed it, since it was starting to do it regularly, even when cold...)
Got some time to work on the new supercharger as well.
Turns out I have no good way to drill any hole bigger than 1/2" in anything thicker than sheet metal. And I need to put the IAT sensor into the throttle manifold. So I broke out the 4 jaw chuck and bored out a hole instead. Fits nice.
And here are all the parts that will hopefully be going in tomorrow. A crazy missmash of three different kits. No intercooler for now, I mostly want to get the supercharger installed before the winter to make sure it is working well with the new bearings and such. Gonna run it with a slightly larger than stock pulley (stock for this kit would have been 72.5mm, the one on there is 75 from a BRP MP62 kit as far as I can tell) and make sure all is well. Should net about 5psi, maybe 130-135hp?
And for those of you wondering how the PVC pipe held up. Other than the paint coming off where it was clamped. It held up great through a track day, some autocrosses and a fair number of miles.
it is a reaaaaaly tight fit with the 1.8 throttle body and inlet kn the supercharger. It fit's, but that extra half inch would be really nice. I will likely move the prop valve and lines over the winter.
Also, whatever the 1.6 throttle body gaskets are made from is the worst substance in the world. It glues itself on and takes a rediculous amount of scraping and gasket remover to get off. Sent about 45min total getting it off the intake manifold...
This thing makes the absolute best noises ever. Can't wait to have dual throttle bodies and a VTA BOV as well. Should really throw people for a loop.
Now of course there has to be a down side, the clutch is slipping in 5th now... Oh well, I was planning on doing one over the winter.
Having half 1.8 JRSC and half 1.6 Sebring (and a tensioner and pulley from a BRP MP62 kit) makes things fit a little weird. But it all goes together! None of this will cause problems once I put the inter-cooler in and move a few things around. This is why I tossed everything in to run at low boost before winter. Figure out where the problems are and then sort them over winter. Have a few last adjustments to make, then it should be ready for it's debut at the end of season meet.
Also, PVC intake since it was the only thing in the house the right shape. Seems to be working.
Finnaly enough light to get some decent pictures. Also found why the hood doesn't quite close. Gonna have to work on that (either cut or swap the manifold for the sebring one if it fits).
Also found a super cute K&N breather filter that works perfectly for the IACV.
Edit: but that looks like a check valve? Good to go.
Yup, rubber hose to check valve and then a breather filter that fits right on the check valve. I don't spend most of my day reading this forum for nothing.
As an interesting side note, I have had to turn down all the percentages for my IACV. I guess the breather and valve is less of a restriction or something? I actually have the idle screw in the throttle body closed all the way at the moment. Need to fiddle with this stuff, idle is a bit unstable (not supprising, that is the big known issue with these kits).
Oh, and I really love how the dummy throttle body for the early Sebring kit is CNC hune out of a single chunk of aluminum. Billet throttle manifold!
Y...

I don't think that's right. That sounds more like a vacuum leak into your intake. Disconnect all vacuum lines, plug the connectors. If the problem persists, do the brake cleaner/propane check.

Honestly wouldn't supprise me. Although I can almost shut the engine off by grabbing the IACV filter, so it can't be too big of a leak. Will need to poke around at that as well.
Nevermind this setup is only going to be on the car until they salt, and then it will be out and time to fix up the engine, do the clutch, rerout, intercooler and all that other fun stuff.
Your build reminds me of my na, had a lot of fun in that car!!!
Managed to get the picture links to load so I could actually look at them.
Looks like that was a sebring kit like the other kit I have! And glad to see it is possible to rout the intake up and over the brake master rather than under it. I was considering going that rout after shoehorning in the intake pipe.... I have a long way to go before this car is done and where I want it still.

I will have to give you a cat next time I'm on a computer.
Are you sure that coupler on the supercharger outlet is sealing?

The coupler there should be sealing. I would think I would have a lot less boost pressure if it was not? Also, it took a lot of stretching and pushing to get it on, it's a 2.75" coupler, but the piping and outlet are very slightly bigger than that.
The crossover pipe is pushed all the way into it since it is already jammed into the radiator fans as is.
For the IACV duty cycles, it is't a ton that I had to lower them. I had to go from 42% to 39% to get back down to 1300ish rpm idle with no load (running open loop idle, so with accesories on it drops down to 900ish).
