The NA trunk mould is being made now. And will be ready by Easter.

I'm trying not to get too giddy before I hear with the +shipping is. This is seriously awesome. I'm excited to see some NA car pics once you get that trunk mold finished.

Well, a plane ticket for three seats on an airline that it would take to fit a hardtop in would be pretty expensive.

I should be able to round up 5 or so local guys to order at the same time. Hopefully that brings shipping costs down a bit

I haven't tried too hard to get a good price on shipping. But the one quote I got was over half the price of a 20' container. So if I did a bulk ship in a container it would work out very cheap. If I sent a container to LA, and gave the dimensions of the shipping box, you can work out the shipping costs from there to your town. A container was about $2300, and a single box with pack and send was around $1400. I will get a couple of quotes from other places. Or if anyone has the time, and wants to try, I will give the dimensions.

And the splitter point just worked out that way. The plywood add ons are strips around a foot or less wide. See the straight edge that comes from the point on each side? Once on I was going to make the curve, but liked the point too much. It pierces the air as it breaks the sound barrier.

Do you know how many you could pack in a container? I feel like you'd have a pretty decent market stateside. Once we have some numbers per top shipped in bulk to LA it should be easier to get people together for a group buy.

Sorry for the thread drift. Very hyped on this.

I didn't take a pic when I made the NA trunk. But this is my NA with a fastback roof sitting on it. This NA deserves to be in the forum. It's a fully built motor and proper turbo. And will have a huge dual element wing I am making.

I have not worked out how many would fit, but it would be a lot. The size is about 145x135x45cm from memory for the shipping box. But that's just my memory, could be different. I have the dimensions written down.

Well traditional uprights are not the best for downforce. I wouldn't do it unless it was in the rules. I do make wings, and this is an early non moulded wing I made with a vac bag and foam core. I have a proper dual element wing mould now. It's an SM183. The width on this wing is narrower than I would like as I was running an eBay wing originally, so made the uprights/endplates to suit. You can buy this set up when I make the new one
It works well. I still hold the record for the fastest MX5 outright at the fastest track in Australia with this aero package. And that was in a basic road car with Oem Mazdaspeed turbo, manifold and downpipe running 225 R specs. Minimum speed at turn one was almost 130 mph. You can check out the video on my YouTube channel. LightyearMx5. It was around 2 years ago now.

These look awesome, Lightyear. I need to find a way to have two NB's now so I can kit one out with this.

There have been a few offers to help with shipping and distribution, so hopefully something works out before too long.

And since this is an aero thread, here is my dodgy front splitter/airdam. It's alcubond with plywood added to increase the area. Box alloy frame supported front, centre and rear. I found that at very high speed the undertray will get pulled down if it's not supported well or strong enough. A sheet of alcubond unsupported looked like a bowl after one session. There must be some real forces going on under the car.

Haven’t you seen everybody stands on their splitter to showcase the strength? Joking aside, it’s a big surface.

I did put most of my weight on it and it compressed the springs. Wasn't game to try both feet, just incase..
