Man that took forever, I suck at doing foo foo stuff. I think I swapped my clutch and waited for it to arrive quicker.
I am still not totally happy with the lenses and I picked up the projectors from a guy in my old neighborhood. He said they were older morimotos but they weren't, I had to buy some hardware from TRS so only in about $80. Maybe I will swap them out for real ones when I decide to redo my lenses.
The only advice I have is if your lenses are as bad as mine, you need to start with 1500 grit. I will probably even go 1000 next time because there are some deep pits that didn't even come out when I started over with 1500. On second thought, just pay 18psi to do it, worth every penny, it was difficult.

I just left the chrome trim piece out, for the "ugly broken Terminator" look
I actually think it always looks so cool when people have images of fitting the projectors with the trim piece out.
One other thing I need to do is change the double sided tape I used for the rubber trim from white to black. It shows with the trim piece gone

Wow!
What a difference projectors make and while I can't understate how dangerous these things are in the rain. At least I can see what I am about to careen into now
I can't do any good logging, but at wastegate pressure my un-ported turbo doesn't creep into the teens. Still very dangerous, even in 5th, don't stomp these things in the rain

Correction, I was able to get a good 4th gear pull uphill today and my un-ported turbo creeped to 16psi on wastegate (there was a small dry patch ). Still within my target boost pressure above 5500 though.
Also I was able to get a slightly less glarey pic of the lights today. You can see the hideous white tape holding the rubber trim in place.
again, every time I look at it.
I did paint the back of the turn signal reflectors black. I really need to pull them out and use black double sided tape, don't know WTF I was thinking, must have been drunk.
Seriously, I think this has been my most fubared and time consuming mod yet. The light is great though, and I followed my wife's car, she said the projectors didn't annoy her at all.
So, I guess

I am going to the bracket drag racing event at Sonoma Raceway tomorrow morning if anyone wants to meat up.
I am watching a dog this weekend and my wife has agreed to hang out with him for the morning. But only the morning so I will be there from about 7:30am to 11am. I am just going to run in trophy class and will likely only get 2 or 3 runs before I go. Weekend events suck but I haven't been able to go for a while so I will deal with it.

Only ran a 13.39 @ 104, I had a few issues and my tune is not quite there yet for the medium turbo. I think if I had a few more passes I could run 12's with the medium turbo. I was able to maintain 16psi to the top of 4th even at the warmest part of the day with 50% boost duty, I think that is promising.

Got in a fun race with a Carrera GTS in my neighborhood tonight. Had to taunt him to race me, an older guy with his wife. I even let him get the jump to be sure he wanted to race. Only 1st and 2nd and I pulled on him in 1st and passed him in 2nd then he gave up. I think he was either intimidated or embarrassed, if he had kept going he would have smoked me.
Finally got some dry traction so my closed loop EBC is almost dialed in for the medium turbo now. Obviously dialed enough for me to feel confident to drag race.
Also my car hit 246000 while out loggin/racing tonight, so 19K on this MKTURBO setup now.

Thanks! It is feeling pretty good right now and squealing tires at the top of 2nd like it would when I was running 12's. The guy in the Porsche was pretty old and wearing a suit, so not sure what his launch is like.
I still have another dry day before the rain starts up again. Unfortunately it looks like the president's day race will be rained out, so no racing til March. Heck, I think the road to the track is actually currently under water.

I keep seeing this white 91 on Craigslist just a few minutes from me for $1800.
I told my wife I wanted it and she said go ahead...
Where are you going to put it?
So I parked kinda tight and snapped this pic as a joke for my wife, she laughed.

Dang, where's all the bashing I was supposed to get about my last post?
No title change, sonofthehill wants a crappy 1.6 instead?
Don't do it, there's an NB for 2700!
Oh well, I guess everyone is too busy right now.
I ain't getting the thing, for now anyway. Maybe if it's still listed in a month or 2 I will offer him 1500.
Nah!

Of course if I pick it up you will be the first person I call Lars.
As far as being haunted, if my car is haunted I want another haunted one. Seeing as how I have the fastest MKTURBO on the planet currently and inching closer to 20k miles boosted and 250k total.
So to be perfectly clear, the compressor wheel I destroyed was entirely my fault. It happened because of a boost leak that I caused when I modified a wastegate can bracket. One of the bolt holes was not flat and gave a springy feel instead of a positive lock. I overtightened it and stripped the threads. Then suspecting there might be a leak, I drove it anyway, like a dumbass NOOB. Probably because this whole thing has been pretty beat proof. I still have 3 good working turbos and have only destroyed one.
This would never have happened with one of Lars' kits because they come with the appropriate wastegate can and bracket. However if you drive with a boost leak, I am sure you can destroy even the most expensive turbos.

I am not disappointing either - it was worth the learning experience to me
For now, By next week (Friday) I will be the one with the fastest MKTURBO kit on the planet! - Although, you're way ahead in mileage - I don't think I've gotten more then 4k - car is still at 260k
I've destroyed 3 Working turbos
