Default About to install greddy...

I just got my Greddy.. I have made the relief cuts, and are about to go out an buy some new and better bolts and some stuff for drilling the oilpan...

However, I have read that you recomend to tighten upp the wastegate?

Can anyone tell me why, and how much? What is the gain of doing this? Better spool up?

the wastegate regulates your boost level. the shorter the wastegate rod, the higher the boost, to a certain level, probably around 7 or 8psi. the stock greddy level is around 4.5psi, and by tightening the wastegate rod a few turns, you can safely have 5psi. not a huge difference but a free one.

yes with a mbc or ebc. both can go higher than the wastegate. some have used a die on the greddy wastegate to make more threads, and to be able to tighten the wastegate that much more. I'm not sure what the psi limits of shortening the rod are though

Also, if you don't tighten the wastegate a least a few turns, it will rattle at the stock setting. Very annoying.

Also if its too loose it can pop off, stripping the threads. Then you need to JB weld that bitch back on (yes I speak from experience).

I too can vouch the wastegate will rattle unless tightened. Just snug it up, but make sure the rod doesn't spin while you do this.
