Hydra 2.7 Crank Trigger Options
I am installing a 95 BP 1.8 longblock into my 96 (threw a rod) which has an FMII Hydra turbo system. This Hydra was set to use the stock crank timing wheel, the 95 has an ATI damper without a wheel. There are two options in the trigger menu that look relevant; "Mazda/Mitsubishi 4 Cyl" and "Mazda 96-97 Miata". I am guessing the 96-97 option is used for the crank trigger wheel and the 4 Cyl is for older cam sensor only 1.8s. I have contacted Flyin Miata and Nemesis, waiting for a response. Anybody got experience with this?
Did you find out how to use the 36-2 on your 95 with the Hydra?
Any help would be much appreciated.
I have a 99 engine in 1992 with Hydra running sequential timing, plan to add 36-2 wheel and use 99-05 crank and cam sensors.
Thanks

My engine install was delayed because the virus shutdowns made the 36-2 wheel hard to get. I have the engine in the car now and am making the final hookups, should have it running in a week. However, I am going to run off the cam sensor at first. I got advice from Flyin Miata and need to buy a NB crank sensor for the 36-2, NA won't work. They have instructions for wiring the NB sensor. When that is installed I will update.
Just down load the instructions from FMs site for the 36-2 wheel , everthing you need is there .Timing is more stable (doesn't jump around as much ), maybe runs a little smoother . other than that it just works .Fredb
