Hey all! So I just finished installing and test driving my MS3x on my stock-engine 1995 and I can't put into words how stoked I am. I read through the forums here for MS3 install/tuning expertise for hours every week this last month to get up to speed on this stuff. It paid off and the install process yesterday/today went smoothly (aside from initially being shipped a faulty O2 sensor with my AEM AFR gauge). I used the basemap for a 94-97 off of Trubokitty. The car started up and idled first try. It drives well with no hiccups in any rev/load ranges, and generally behaves like stock minus cranking maybe a second longer before starting every few tries.
My only hiccup/question is regarding the thermistor tables for the CLT sensor in TunerStudio. I used the values for "RX-7_CLT (S4&S5)" as directed in the TruboKitty setup guide. There's about a 15-20*f difference in the readings on my Autometer coolant temp gauge and the CLT input in TS, with the CLT reading low. The Autometer will read ~216f with the CLT reading ~200 if I'm stopped at a stoplight. Otherwise, the CLT stays close to 175-180 while driving with the Autometer fluctuating around 190-200. I believe the Autometer to be accurate as I installed it just a few weeks ago and the numbers it's been putting out seem correct for the application (Stays around 190-205f while driving. I have a Supermiata Coolant reroute w/ 195* thermostat). Both coolant temp sensors are mounted in ports on my coolant reroute
I've attached a screenshot with the CLT tables in my TS. Does anyone know if these numbers check out for a 1995 miata CLT sensor?
Thanks again to everyone who contributes to this forum! Without it, I'd be lost in the dark with my Miata build haha
Assuming all your wiring is intact, and your sensor is in good shape, your settings above are correct. NA=RX-7, NB=Mazda. Autometer typically=cheap garbage but usually works ok.
I’ll ohm out the CLT wiring and make sure there’s no excessive resistance in the circuits. CLT was replaced a few months ago so if the wiring is ok, maybe I got a biased sensor. Guess I’ll ohm out the autometer temp sensor while I’m at it too and see if the resistance matches the specs in the instructions.
At any rate, I know what steps I’ll be taking next. Thanks!
