Default 95' VSS Input Unusably Noisy

I have the VSS output from the cluster wired to PE1 on my MSLabs MS3 basic. I get a signal that correlates nicely to my actual speed but is so noisy that it is unusable even with maximum smoothing via lag factor. Is this typical for the reed sensor output from the cluster on NA cars or could there be something else causing this much noise?

Had a similar issue on mine, had to replace the reed switch. They’re~$10 from Amazon, you can unscrew the little reed board and work on it fairly easily. I think I calculated mine had been switched over 5 million times since new, so I wasn’t too surprised. I also soldered it on the other side of the board so it’s further away, hoping to eliminate any erratic signals.

pictured is the OE one, dunno if you can tell, but the terminals wrap underneath so it sits below the board. I cut it off and soldered right to the solder pads, so it’s a little higher.

Curly to the rescue again! It pains me to know that I'll have to tear the interior apart again though, just when I thought I was finished....
