New Brake Kit Fitment Woes
So I picked up a wilwood 4 piston on here for a great price from another member for my NB. Luckily I had already picked up some new rims b/c my old ones did not fit. The new ones I have fit with maybe like a 2mm of gap between the inside of the rim and the caliper. The new wider rims/tires also have a bit of rubbing so I bought 10mm spacers from good win racing. I still have the stock studs as I am pending extended studs and new hubs from supermiata. Should I be concerned with not enough stud being left if I use the 10mm spacer on the stock studs? Should I be concerned if I leave the current setup well enough alone without spacers about any caliper on rim rubbing? I haven't been to a track day yet, but I've tried to aggressively heat them up on the street (I know it isn't the same) b/c I was concerned like metal expansion from heat might overcome that small gap I currently have. Am I just over thinking all of this?
Yeah 10mm with stock studs isn’t happy, but if you already have 2mm that’s generally considered minimum safe clearance. You can run some slim spacers, like 2mm with stock studs safely. That would give you double the current clearance. Unsure if it would cure your rubbing issues though.
