Default Stage 2 Walter Transmission- sounds terrible in 3rd gear

Put in a stage 2 rebuilt from Walter as I was doing the FM turbo kit. Go for the test drive today and third gear is extremely loud and chattering the shifter quite a lot. I attached a video to hear it. I was already a little worried because they put an entirely wrong seal on the tail
of the transmission. I reached out to them but waiting on a response. Anyone know how bad this is?

Not sure exactly how bad, sounds like a bad bearing or maybe a chipped tooth, or a roll pin not fully seated that rubs on gear or synchro teeth?

But you may as well start taking it back out, nothing is gonna fix that in the car.

Spot on, they got back to me and said it sounds like a chipped gear, and want me to send it back. For over 3k for their stage 2 I’m pretty hesitant to go through the rigmarole of fixing this versus asking them to send a different unit.

Yeah that’s not unreasonable to not wanna wait for them to rebuild it again, esp considering that gear was ostensibly chipped/damaged prior to installing it in the box. But I’m not sure if they have them on the shelf ready to go. From what I’ve heard they’re very receptive to customer support, so hopefully they’ll work with you on it.
