Default MAP setting for VE/AFR table calculation

Hoping this one gets more traction than my previous query. I'm diving further into the MS3 and decided to start completely from scratch by generating new VE and AFR tables based on my specific engine configuration vs the ones included with my unit. One of the inputs required is for the MAP (kPa) at max HP and torque. My question is would this value be absolute or what is reading on my boost gauge? I'm pushing around 8 psi boost pressure so it is a significant different. I cannot find anything specific to this on line or in the MS manuals. I have seen where some people are just using the max MAP for their sensors but I'm not sure that is going to be as accurate as using what is actually being produced.

Chief,

Search for "Holley kpa boost to psi chart". The Holley forum isn't letting me in right now.

I'm running just shy of 10 psi. I believe I hit 10 psi on a very cold, dry, high pressure day. Usually, I see about 9.2 to 9.5 at ~7000 rpm. The upper row of my VE Table is 176 kPa. There's no point in me using a larger number.

Thanks for your response. I kept on digging and doing some educated guessing I figured using my max boost pressure (8 psi/155 kPa) for MAP would be good. I generated both VE and AFR tables using that figure along with my configuration. After dumping those into the MS, when I started it she was running like crap (first high AFRs, then very low). Gave that up for now and loaded a previous save point. At this time I have the same boost leak (outlet of 'charger) that I have fixed several times already. A new coupler is en route so I'm waiting on that to be installed before I try anything else.

I have a nice little conversion program called CONVERT I use for any number of unit changes. That way I don't have to rely on any website.

I believe it's helpful for soopernoobs to see that 0 psi of boost equates to 100 kPa. Not that you're a soopernoob.

OP, at least when I tried the VE table generator when I first saw your post, I can tell you it is far from correct. I saw numbers way above 150 and as low as 20-30. In a Miata motor you’ll be between 55 and 100 with MS3.

For the sake of answering your question. Use the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) in kPa as shown in Tunerstudio. Another thing, this all gets murky if we’re talking about altitude, so really, just take the generator as a grain of salt.

Checking back in here. I ended up finding one of my previous save points that let the car run better. For some reason, I did not get the super-rich condition on throttle opening above atmospheric that was previously present. However I was then getting a weird situation where the car would die after starting when coming off throttle to idle. Didn't get that figured out before I left to come back to work. I printed out my VE and AFR tables from my old MS2 to compare to the new ones I'm using to see what sort of delta they have, haven't gotten around to doing that yet. I did print out the injector settings needed from Deatschwerks' site and made sure I have those in there. I saw a large spike on my 3-D VE table around 1500 rpm which I figure was the cause of my idle issue and corrected that. Only thing that sucks is I can't test any of this for another three and a half months until I get back home. Waiting to go into port so I can download the Megamanual info, connection I have to use on the ship will not open up the site. Then the real fun begins!
