Default Help me identify what I have and how to optimize it's Plumbing please

So the guy I got my parts car from did not build it. I have to say that the things that I have found in this car have made me question whoever did build it to a great extent. Just things that are sketchy and done wrong. I don't know if the turbo is one of those things. Can you take a look at the pictures in the link of how it is plumbed on the return and coolant lines? The feed is a braided steel line from the oil pressure sender port. Not a fan of that either and hoping there's a better option closer to the turbo while the engine is on the stand.

I'm doing a coolant reroute and a reseal of the whole engine and would just like to make the plumbing the best I can possibly do it. I would prefer hard lines and an fittings if at all possible because those to me are bomb proof.

Additionally I have no idea what turbo this is other than a Garrett with a flying Miata manifold and downpipe. Can anyone identify it for me?

Looks like a pretty standard Flyin Miata setup. I can't say for sure, but the turbo is most likely a 2560 based on the photos here. I'm not sure you can actually get the flying miata kit with anything other than a 2560. Should be good for about 270 WHP if you can max it out. I was hitting about 220 with mine on 91 octane. Stage 8 locking hardware is what those little tabs on the manifold bolts are.

Pulling oil from the pressure sender is pretty standard (FM's instructions for installing the kit should be available online if you want to pick through that).

Oil drain line looks standard. Coolant lines look long, but I can't tell if they're hooked up or not.

I believe Flyin miata has a kit to replace the coolant lines with hardlines if you're looking for something off the shelf or for inspiration.

Thanks simba!!

The lines are hooked up. Everything but piping is still installed to the turbo in that picture. I hope that I can find an fittings to replace the barb fittings now that I have an idea of what the turbo is. And new gaskets and mounting hardware.

I have a qmax coolant reroute to go on, and in an hour of searching haven't semed to find the recommended way of plumbing the turbo coolant lines to it. Anyone have any ideas there?

Having just installed a Garrett clone, the coolant fittings threads on the turbo housing should be M14x1.5.

The Qmax shouldn't need to interact with the turbo coolant plumbing. Usually that's going to have one of the heater core hoses attached to it and the main upper radiator hose.

Coolant for my turbo is being pulled from the throttle body coolant outlet and returned to the mixing manifold on the front of the engine, which is how I'm assuming you have it set up now. Not the best photos, but these should give you an idea of the coolant lines. I blocked off the front thermostat neck when I did the reroute, but some people will tap that with a fitting and supply (I think?) coolant from the water neck.

Thanks!!!

I think that one around the front of the engine needs to be a hardline with that long of a run. So many moving bits to nail a hose.....

And should be simple enough eith it on the stand.

I ordered the an fittings. Time to get all this done.
