Default AEM sensor reading too rich

This is more of an AEM question than Link, but it's on a Link, so here I am. Anyone ever experience this?

NB2, VICS intake manifold, FM log manifold, stock ignition system, ID1050xs, GT2870r, 10psi, 230hp, AEM inline X-series.

Dyno wideband is reading high 11s, AEM is reading high 9s, car is perfectly happy there. If I try to tune so the AEM is reading mid 11s, engine is unhappy and makes 200-210hp. I personally have never experienced a sensor dying by simply reading 2 points richer than it is, but there's always a first.

Calibration is 0.5v 8.5afr, 4.5v 18afr, which is correct afaik.

No, I haven't tried hooking up to CAN yet, it's on my list of things to try.

I haven't seen one so far off before. Is the sensor a new one from AEM? I would say try a manual free air calibration before the CAN switch over. Other than that, CAN is the next thing.

You typically don’t do a free air cal with them, but I think it’s possible, I could try that too.

sensor had ~1000 miles on it in another car, before that brand new from the AEM kit.

I know they do it automatically with the resistor, but I wonder if that’s wonky. Give it a shot, they have the instructions in the manual.

Currently in atlanta, car still in Portland, so no. I was hoping to get some good ideas to try when I get back. Free air cal, then wire in CAN, with a new sensor thrown in there somewhere.

New sensor did in fact fix the issue. We did a free air calibration too, I would have liked to do one at a time and tell you what truly fixed it, but his car decided to pick the EXACT moment we started messing with the wideband sensor to lock into full VVT advance, so I couldn't figure anything out until I found that.

Glad to hear its fixed! Certainly an odd one to fail in that manner, but oh well.
