Hydra 2.5 COP settings
Currently running GT2560 and Hydra 2.5 on 2001
I have a set of COP sitting on my desk for a long time. Will be any benefits converting my 2001 onto Toyota COP considering the 01+ have already COP on 2 cyl. ??? I have seen that Y8s had done this using the Hdra 2.1. Love to know any feedback on how good the change was.
Thanks

Did you need to modify the Hydra harness in order to get it to work... love to know more about the installation if you don't mind... I think I will take the plunge and do it.
The idea of increasing the gap on the plugs might enable more timming ?

It wont enable more timing. it may enable slightly less fuel usage, but that's a complex conversation not meant for this thread.
to set it up you need:
* two more pins and wire for the hydra harness (From Jeremy @ FM)
* the correct pinout location (from Jeremy @ FM)
* to run those wires along with the two already installed to the engine bay
* harnesses for the COP units.
* to wire hydra output 1 to cyl 1, hydra 2 to cyl 3, hydra 3 to cyl 4, hydra 4 to cyl 2.
* to disable the "wasted spark" setting in the ignition setup menu
* to update the spark dwell settings to match those that Jason Cuadra determined
* to hack away at the COP housings so they fit the 01 valve cover. or hack the VC.
* some way to mount the COPs securely.
I can tell you the fitting/mounting is not a simple task and they likely dont even fit in the valve cover holes. test this before you start by pulling off at least two adjacent spark plug boots and sticking the cop in the hole. You might find it's not worth the trouble to pull the valve cover and bore out the holes more.

Thanks that was FAST answer !!!
I have a couple 2001 heads assembly with the valve cover sitting around my garage.. I will use one to test fit the COP in order to get good fit.
One more thing : Harness for the COP ? are you using the existing wires and just tap the end of them with the proper size electrical tap that would stay tight on the COP connectors ?

you can get the pins somewhere (search this forum) and the connectors from a toyota dealership (also search for "connector" and my username). Or you can do a hack job if you want. lots of people have.
Jason: you didn't mention the capacitor back when you measured the dwell in that original thread
Just to clarify, it's two caps across the main power supply to the coils right? in parallel (9400 uF)?
