Megasquirt EGT Interface Module - SymTech Laboratories

This little doo-hickey lets you plug any K-type thermocouple into the MS. Like a Knocksense for EGTs. I had an EGT gauge for a while, and I want one again, but I'd like MS to log it so this is the option I'm looking at.

Normal price is $40+ship on these. $6 isn't too much but I figured it's something if there ends up being some interest on these. Throw your name on the list if you're interested; I'd like to get at least 15, maybe 20 before we place the order.

As long as this is a simple mod and can also be added to the PNP I am interested in 2. If not so easy on the PNP put me down for 1.

 

So this just lets you log with an EGT to help further monitor exhaust temps?

 

Paul, this should be a perfect candidate for using a couple of the spare pins in the center connector.

 

How does this connect? How involved is it? Calibration? what i/o pin would you use? Put me on for one, but im not 100% yet. would save some $$ from getting a regular egt gauge...

I do have said k-type thermocouple, but i could just as easy build the input circuit myself, im just too lazy and/or cheap.

For those who consider building their own circuit. The thermocouple chip itself is $18 from digikey. Thats a large part of the cost of this unit right off the bat.

 

Crap I just bought a thermocouple from another vendor for $30. Can you post the digikey part #?

I agree, looking at the circuit itself, its waaay easy to build yourself. The IC they use is obviously different than the circuit on the MSextra site (8pin vs. 14pin) but I think I already found the chip they are using (its like $6). So, $40 for a $10 circuit.....no thanks, I'll pass.

 

Well the cost is lower then a gauge and I can log it so count me in!

 

Is this dead? Am I on my own for one of these now?
