Saw this on their website today, not sure how new it is or isn't. Anyone using it or have any real experience with it?

Those are actually brand new, and I don't believe any have been shipped out yet.

They did exactly what they describe, figured out the secret of the MSM clutch and duplicated it. Got some manufacturer to make a kit to their own specs.

It'll more than likely be on my list with a 1.8L flywheel if i ever decide to yet again do a clutch job.

 

Anyone think it will hold what they claim or are they assuming most customers won't ever get there to find out? This is very tempting....

 

yeah if i didnt get my ACT for such a great deal with that microsoft cashback 30% and an extra 10% coupon id be kinda pissed...

but my power goals should keep me in the safe zone with the HD

 

Wow, I would like that.

But the ACT HD doesn't bother me. But I am 5'10 and 188lbs.
Now that I am have used the heavy duty for a while. I hate driving the other cars. They just feel weak.

Someone posted once somewhere that they used a Mazda van slave cylinder and it pushed much easier.

 

I'll buy that. I'm pretty happy with my spec s3 though.

 

Wow. My ACT HD 6-puck has like 30k on it so I am sort of mulling a rebuild in the back of my head, but that's a very attractive option.

It's definitely new and we've done a bunch of testing. There's one in a 3071 car right now and I ran one in the Targa. Holy cow, check out the date on that post - it was nearly two years ago. The process took so long because of the number of prototypes we ran, then the production parts had to be made in pretty large quantities to keep the prices under control. We've got about 300 pressure plates in stock right now. Finally.

They're being made for us by a good company. The friction discs actually come from the same factory that make the ACT ones but with our specs. The first few Level 2s will ship with ACT discs while we're waiting for a shipment of the FM parts. The torque levels are not a marketing number, they're a proper engineering estimate. We know we couldn't get away with simply making up numbers! You're not going to find these anywhere else, either. They're truly an FM part.

SFI certification is coming. It'll pass just fine and the materials are all correct, it's simply a matter of going through the process and blowing up a clutch. That's underway.

 

I intend to find out if that engineering estimate is correct. Unfortunately, I'm ready to purchase now, but without the SFI certification I can't. I know you said it's underway, but how long does this usually take?

 

I've not been through it before personally, but my contact at the clutch company seems to think it's quite quick and easy. We have to send one of our pressure plates back for the test (it's going out tomorrow) so they'll have it by early next week. I'll try to get more information on potential timeframes.

I want to purchase a flywheel, clutch and a pressure plate now. Will the SFI certification be retroactive? If so, will it just be an email with the numbers for my log book or will actual stickers be sent out. Are the flywheels also being sent out for certification?

 

Yes, it will be retroactive. We can either supply you with the number or a sticker. Right now, I'm told we may get an answer by the middle of next week. I have no reason to believe it will be a failure, but of course I can't guarantee anything at this point.

Argh, the flywheel. I didn't think of that. You can guess how much time I spend at the strip

 

So does this mean that the flywheel needs to be sent out to be certified as well? I didn't plan on the flywheel, but I just learned yesterday that my old Fidanza flywheel was made before they started getting them certified.

 

If we're going to get certification on the flywheel, it will have to be tested.

 

WOW...what a good PRICE! I just spent $860 on act + fly wheel...i would of been happy with that...

 

Are the flywheels that you are offering a new product or is it something that you have been carrying for awhile? I am not picky about the flywheel (light or heavy works for me), just the certification. I know there's other offerings out there, but I want to purchase all three of these items from the same vendor if possible.
