I just got the car and have looked everywhere to see what are the best points to lift the car without damaging anything but have gotten way to many mixxed answers . All I have is a lifting jack...?

dude I just got the car I see some lift points behind the wheels but I read in a thread that those are bad I see one in the center front right behind the radiator...and read that was bad too, so what the hell do I hover the mother ****** or what?

With all the "trouble" figuring out how to lift the car…exactly what kind of projects do you have planned?

 

right now I just want to get under the car to see where a oil leak may be coming from, I think it may be the oil pan , plus there's another oil leak coming from the rear of the motor. I'm really new to this so please bare with me...

 

Mike I looked around found that there's lift point right behind the radiator and I was gonna go with that, but I didn't I wont lift it til I'm really sure of where to lift the car. I still have the whole weekend so no worries.

 

Srs dude be careful... I don't know if you're trolling or not, matter of fact I would feel better if you were. You can put jackstands on the rail markings (rear and front).

Usual leaks would be the front main and the rear main. What you can do also to diagnose the location of the leaks is put cardboard under the car and see where is leaking.

You can jack it up and put jack stands on the pinch welds.

I'm so confused by this thread.

USE JACK STANDS. 4 Would be best.. like the picture above. If you don't use 4, set the ebrake, and chalk the wheels.

The cardboard method doesn't always work if it is leaking down from the top, could end up on the other side of the bay.

I'm not sure what point you're talking about when you mean behind the radiator, I really hope you mean the subframe.

This scares me a little.

 

If I recall, there is no place 'just behind the radiator' except where the steering rack mounts to sub frame. Not exactly my choice of lift points if I can help it.

Look in the owners manual to find the best points to jack up your car. Also, don't do it alone, you should find a buddy who knows wtf he/she is doing and get their input. It's also convenient because that way you'll have somebody right there to call 911 when the car falls on you. Miata frame rails have been known to crumple, fyi.
