I'm sorry to ask such a dumb question but I am really going to be limited on my ability to adjust the brake bias on my car before track time and just thought someone with a similar setup might be able to ball park me. I have corrado rotor fronts and 1.8 rears with HP plus pads (chew up rotors on my civic but otherwise work great), will be running nt-01's at the track. Hoping for dry pavement. I will be doing some adjustment, obviously, but can anyone tell me how many turns they generally use?

 

i bet you end up with full rear bias.

you can tune this within ten minutes.

I'd end up at full rear bias with that setup assuming wilwood/corrado fronts.

Wasnt till I put sport calipers on the rear that I could actually get sketchy levels of rear bite with adjusting the bias valve.

Just with 1.8 stock brakes and XP 10's all around I had to puts sport rear calipers on to get off full open on the prop valve!

Probably the best cheapest upgrade to braking if your running stock 1.8 rears is to just buy some line couplers and remove all rear proportioning or maybe gut a stock valve.

I was ok on rear bias with XP8 all around, corrado fronts and OEM 1.8 rears. With the (old) TSE wilwood kit using corrado fronts, XP10 and OEM 1.8 rear w/ XP8, I run the propvalve nearly full open (full rear) and could use more. Sourcing an M-tuned rear upgrade or sport brakes now.

 

I also removed the Ebrake from the rear calipers, I had to slightly clearance the backing plates on the pads to fit the stock 1.8 brackets.

I am running sport calipers with 1.6l brackets on 11.44" rear rotors. Had to grind the caliper a bit to get the 1.6l pads to fit. Similar location to what you clearance on your 1.8l pads.

I'm missing something Bob. How do you fit the caliper over that huge rotor with a 1.6 bracket?

Your 1.8 rear calipers plus this and add some sport rotors -
Rear kit allows you to install 10.84" Miata factory Sport Brake Rotors to replace the OEM Miata 9.89" rotors.

Now I can finally start getting some good braking in the rear 1.8 vs sports:

 

The sport rear calipers also have 1.375" pistons instead of 1.25" they worth again as much additional bite as the rotor size differance makes.
