I searched all over so either I am blind-stupid or both. I could not find the info I was looking for.
I have a 1990 V8 Miata. It's strictly a track car. I got it last year, it came with a coilover set up. Tokico adjustable with too soft springs for me.

I did a few track days with it before other problems knocked me off the track.
I do between 30-40 track days per year. I am in the advanced/instructor run groups.

I want to buy only 1 coilover suspension set up for this car and it hopefully will be the last one I buy.

I've narrowed my search down to:
FM AFCO Coilovers
Koni 3011 race shocks

And I am considering AST's.

I am considering running spring rates in the following ranges:
Front: 700 to 850
Rear: 400 to 550
I have not yet decided which rate I will run.

This car sees no street driving so street comfort is no factor.
I am hoping some of you guys with way more knowledge/experience then me can shed some light on which of these would probably work best for my purpose.

I saw them mentioned a few times in other posts/forums and was wondering if anyone was using them on a high powered track car. I was also hoping to hear from people familiar with other AST shocks.I am thinking I really can't go wrong with either the FM AFCO's or the Koni 3011's. But before I shell out between $2000 and $2500 I want to be as certain as I can that I am getting the right coilover set up for me.

There are two people you need to call.

One is Emilo, owner of 949 Racing. Emilio is a track racer, and knows his way around all of the major off-the-shelf suspension packages. He owns a couple of very serious track cars. http://949racing.com/ and 949-716-3111

The other is Shaikh (pronounced like Shake), the owner of FatCat motorsports. He's more of an AutoX guy, not a track racer, but he does nothing but suspension. Shaikh's specialty is Bilstein shocks custom-valved to your specifications, with dyno charts provided. My 350whp turbo car uses XIDAs. They are magical and you will kick yourself for not buying them earlier.

I wouldn't even consider anything else.

MWEST put your location in your profile, and update your signature with your car setup. Do you have any aero? How wide a wheel are you on now? What tracks do you run? Details man. We would love to see pictures of your setup. Emilio's custom build AST suspension known as the XIDA is what your looking for. I think they are having good luck with the 800/400 setup but he could tell you more.

Xida uses AST dampers, the clubsports are Emilio's adaptation to them. There are plenty of people who use them and say they are magical. I'd go with them and never look back. According to Emilio on a discussion at m.net. He recommends Xidas, ES bushings, RB front sway and you'll be in the same league as the best cars in track racing
