Default Any MT vendors selling 3.63 R&P?

I thought 949 had them at one time, but just thought I'd ask before shelling out $600+ to someone else... if any of our MT vendors are not selling the 3.63 (not saying they are the cheapest, but I supports our vendors), where might be the next cheapest option? Found the set for $629 from corksport... of course there's mazmart @ $625

If I remember right, the Mazda 626 (89-91?) used the 3.63. You can still find them at salvage yards. You should try searching carparts.com.Also try using the search here for 3.63. You will need special equipment to measure the gear lash when you swap the ring and pinion.
Cheers,

No - the 3.636 came on the 79-82 RWD 626 and carparts.com doesn't have anything that I could tell

The earliest 626 in the local yard (pull-a-part) is an '89 - not early enough. There is, however, an '84 B2000 - diesel with the 3.308 dunno (unlikely)but worth a look. I ENVY the hell out of Stan at speedsouth, he has the 3.308 out of a deisel B2000. The local yard is where I scored my 3.9 R&P for cheap. Thanks Fae - I'll check out car-part.com
I don't have to have one right away, so will keep a look out for one. A whole torsen setup with a 3.6 would be sweet as I can put the torsen in my '93 with my 3.9, then put the 3.6 with my OSG.
But I could have sworn Emilio was stocking them at some time. Don't see anything listed on his site.

A few months ago I went through the car-part.com listings to try finding a R&P out of the RWD 626. Several were listed, and I called every one of them and it was the same bullshit every time. "Nope, we don't really have it, got rid of that car long time ago. Do you know how long it would take to reconcile our actual inventory with all of our car-part.com listings?" It was a giant ******* waste of time. Maybe somebody else will get lucky and a yard will actually get one of the MANY MANY 79-82 626s that you see on the road every day all over America.

I got a 3.909 diff out of an RX-7 so I will get to decide between using those gears or paying out the *** for a 3.63 set.

Why not switch to a Ford 7.5 or 8.8?

I know, it's a PITA. Like a part time job to find one. Also what you call it when you search carpart.com matters. You don't call it rear end or diff, it's a different term (sorry forgot what it's called). I found mine in Idaho, shipped was $100. The deals are still out there. Good luck.

So did I, and also learned that R&P was an option with the diesels - so just b/c it is a diesel doesn't mean it has the sacred R&P.

Thanks Andrew - you got pm mail

You'll be looking at around a grand from Martin. You can sell the torsen for 700.

Or you can do the 8 inch Mazda setup like I have under my car, but it ended up running me around 1600 or so to do.

Not a myth, just *extremely* rare, and now most of those trucks have been crushed. I found one after several years of looking and purchasing lots that did not work.

I ended up selling it to Randy Stocker.

Word...

I don't know why more people don't do this. If I remember correctly(doesn't happen too often ) It cost me $1200ish for everything needed for a 7.5 swap. Of course you'll need the torque to back it up, but you can always switch out the r&p.

I remember Corksport's offering was around ~$3xx for the same r&p just a few months ago. Haters....

IIRC MazMart has a complete assembled 3.6 Torsen sitting in their showroom. 0 miles built by Rick Engman. I don't think it's very cheap though. Could always call and ask for the specifics on it.

I have a box-o-pinions and a box-o-rings, how do I tell which pair belong to the 3.63?

1% problems, lol.
