Ok so trying to find a good starting point for my coilover height. The night I installed them last weekend, I lowered it off the lift not giving a damn how slammed my car was, and drove home because all I wanted to do was go home for a shower and dinner. It looked something like this, but got even lower after sitting over-night.





The next day, I raised the collars about an inch, but it still seem too low. I do think it's better because I haven't scraped anything since I raised them... It feels like it handles better than the first day, but I am still hitting the bump stops.

It was sitting like this when I drove into work this morning:



Fast forward to this afternoon. Have it back in the air, and I want to get the height "Pretty close" to where I will be good to go for when my wheels and tires get put on the car on Friday. I just raised one of the rear's so far... Here is comparison to where the driver side is Vs. the passenger side (Which I just raised)

So should the passenger side be good? I will be running 15x8 +20 Konig wideopen's and the coilovers are VMaxx Classic's. Thanks for any input guys! First time setting up coils

 

Measure from the middle of the hub to the fender, a good starting point is about 12.5 inches. I think mine are set around there.

I've also heard its more precise to measure from the pinch welds to the ground, but I haven't looked much farther into that.

 

Well adjusted them and it just so happened to end up right around 12.5 from hub-fender.... It looks much better now, and even if it slightly settles over the next few days, I think it will be just fine. Thanks!

 

Holy crap the collars arent hitting the axles? I keep the collars on the xidas 1/4-3/8 of an inch above the axles at full droop. What does flyin miata say you should run for ride height?

 

Start with 12.625 in the front and 12.875 in the rear. The Vmaxx will sag half an inch in about a month. Or you could go 12.375 in front and 12.5ish in the rear but you'll need to readjust it after the springs sag.

The rear collars will hit the axles however thats at 11" ride height which is useless. When you adjust ur **** you'll be half an inch or more above the axles.

Whoops wasn't getting any notifications for this thread.... Odd.... Thanks for the links guys, I read up and decided I should be good with where they rest now. I didn't notice the recommended height measurements from Flyin' Miata, but after reading through them again I saw the recommended specs. I am pretty close to what they say, so fingers crossed everything clears Ok once the wheels are on!
