Default Have HD doorbars, adding FM frame rails..am I retarded

ive had the HD doorbars on for awhile now but am getting sick of chassis shake/shimmy on bumps, To anyone who had the doorbars before framerails did you notice any difference installing the rails ?

Im running 600/300 Xidas on my car and am just sick of the shake/shimmy im thinking with that high of spring rate I might notice a difference adding the rails

From my understanding the door bars negate the need for frame rails. I could be wrong though.

Do it. For only 120 or whatever even the other benefits of them make it worth it

I'd install frog arms at that point, not frame rails.

This. Extra bracing plus protection for your frame rails plus big easy to reach jacking points.

It is not that one chassis reinforcement negates another. Depending on how much power you are making, what tires you are using, and the general use of the car will dictate exactly how much stiffness you need in your chassis.

If your seat of the pants feeling is that you need more chassis stiffness, then you probably need more chassis stiffness.

I have door bars, I'm gonna get frame rails too just for mainly a better jacking point. My drivers side rail has a little kink in it that I'm not happy about.

I like that, but I'm not about to cut out my floor. I don't even want to remove my carpet!

Frog arms were an expensive but dramatic upgrade to my chassis with no other changes. I have a set of FM rails ready to go on the car now that one of my tissue paper framerails is flattened into the bellypan thanks to the jackhole at either the transmission or exhaust shop (This is why I now do all my own work.)

You may also consider stitch welding the seams if you can find someone with a TIG and the time to do it. Yes a MIG works, but the TIG is soooooo much cleaner. Disassembly and prep are a bitch, but its very much worth it.

I plan on seam welding the door openings here soon, After that my next attempt to cure the shakes will be frog arms

I have door bars and frame rails. Feels better than stock by a good margin.

Frame rails are a must just for the scuff/dent protection.

My main reason against adding about frame rails is every single hole I drill in the frame seems like just an opportunity for rust. Maybe I'm being an idiot, but I'll stick with the six extra holes I need for the door bars and call it a day.

I had my door area stitch welded and then added the Frame Rails, to be honest it didn´t feel much different with the rails on. But since my rails were pretty dented I thought that it wouldn’t hurt.

After adding door bars the differance the frame rails made in handling or stiffness was not even detectable. They became dead weight so I took them off. I actually welded in landing plates for my hard dog door bars and made a better connection into the sill structure though.

So spray/paint the area with an epoxy paint before assembly. It isn't hard. Hell, most NEVER remove the frame rails after installing them. Coat the area with underbody spray rubber.

I have a "cage" in my car but still have the frame rails. I like the skidplate nature they give the bottom of the car. Mainly because I scrap the bottom of the race car like a fiend just getting the car on/off the trailer.

Ohh god yes, Iv done this for a few local forum members and it takes a while but I found a rhythm to doing it. My personal car was mig welded a few years back and I'm currently grinding it all off and tig welding it. Soo much cleaner and its gonna be stronger.

I find the frame rails to be nice out side of just stiffening. It's just nice to have them there for structural reasons looking under the car

I know, right? I saw your thread on NCR and really wanted to jump in but couldn't make the timing work. Gesso has a TIG so I'll beg his services once he gets his current project sorted out.
