I'm a child and don't want to wait until I get home to measure the cotterpins that came with my Dynalites.

I see multiple options for "Dynalite cotter pin" on Amazon in various lengths, namely 2.5", 3.0", and 3.5". I think 3" is the right size (p/n 180-0055), but I just wanted a sanity check before I press buy.

I had to modify mine. Torque them all sorts of weird angles to shorten the tail of the 180* bend, and then I sharpened the end so it would slide in easier.

 

I found that the QR pins hang up on the pads. I had one almost come out because the pad hooked on it and had started to pull the pin out of the caliper. Ditched them immediately and went back to cotter pins.

 

I wish the Dynalite's used the "W" shaped cotter pin like the Dynapro's I had on my BMW.

I have been using them for 2 years never had this problem. I did have to file the inside end of them to fit though.

 

I think there was an old design of these where the hook part of the pin was larger and had another bend, probably combat andrews concern and to make it even easier to pull up to slide the pin out. We had both styles from misc wilwood calipers collected over the years with the fsae cars. Obviously we used the lighter style on the car.

 

Huh, never had any problems like that with mine. I use them with mostly Wilwood pads though -- the one time I had some Hawks in there the backing plate wasn't quite the same shape and getting the QR pins in was trickier.
