Default HANS Devices Much Cheaper in England Right Now

FIA approved (which makes them legal here) HANS devices are really cheap right now thanks to Brexit. Take this opportunity to make yourself safer while it's much cheaper.

Stand21 Racing Series 2 HANS Device | Demon Tweeks

Stand21 Club Series HANS Device | Demon Tweeks

Some of the other actual HANS branded stuff has notes about not being available to USA buyers.

SCCA guys on another forum were talking about how even with shipping these were hundreds of dollars cheaper than stateside.

I haven't looked to see if there are any other deals to be had.

I bought the Schroth equivalent to that from the same site several months ago for ~$290. Shipping to Michigan was $35. Quite a bit cheaper than a good wheel chair, I imagine.

Yup, I ordered the Schroth Super Sport when I ordered my belts from them. Fast shipping but you do have to pay a customs fee (I think it was $30 for a HANS and two belts). MSAR Safety is another British company with similar pricing and easy to deal with. Ordered a set of Tillett seats from them, waiting for them to show up.

It's funny you mention this I have been looking at the Schroth Enduro harness and their XLT HANS device and the prices have actually gone up quite a bit in the last month or so. The Enduro harness was $407 last I checked and is at $463 today, I guess the British pound must be going back up lately.

Schroth Enduro Harness Black | Demon Tweeks

I should probably just order the damn things before they go up any more.

Demon Tweeks probably also uses pricing algorithms just like Amazon or the airline industry.

These don't have SFI tags, if it matters. Just on the strap.

Also, I think they won't ship to the U.S. any more.

I picked one up 6 months ago (L Sport II) before they stopped. (Probably for sale in the next week or two, though).

The prices have been super cheap well before Brexit.

I think it's only the hans branded ones that won't ship to the US, they have a pretty clear disclaimer on the description of those. It's unfortunate, the Sport II is pretty inexpensive and has SFI certification as well.

Probably patent related.

I might be interested in the large. Hit me up.

I'd have no problem forwarding a couple of these to the US if your desired model won't be shipped beyond UK/Europe.

I think asking those guys for a group buy could get the price down even more...

I'm contacting them to see if they are interested and what terms they can offer. Will let you know what comes of it.

A +1 for MSAR from me, I also bought my Tillett seat from there (they are local to me) and they couldn't have been better. They do most of their business outside of the UK from what I gather so shipping to the US won't be an issue. Recommended.

A small update, as I've got information back from Demon Tweeks
They can do a group buy and lower the price noticeably if we order at least 20 units. Now, considering that most were interested because of the price, I assume that everyone is more interested in the Club version of the device since we are a budget conscious bunch. We can mix sizes within the same 20 unit order, but we can't mix two models (Club and Race).

Stand21 Club Series
- Composite
- FIA
- 1050gr (~2.3lb)
- M/L - Fits collar sizes 15"-18" (38-45.5cm)
- L/XL - Fits collar sizes above 18" (45.5cm)
- 20 degree layback
~ $225

Stand21 Racing Series 2
- Carbon fiber
- FIA
- 850gr (~1.9lb)
- M/L - Fits collar sizes 15"-18" (38-45.5cm)
- L/XL - Fits collar sizes above 18" (45.5cm)
- 20 degree layback
~ $310

What is included in the price shown above:
- HANS device
- Delivery to your home
- small shipping cost variance fee (they can't give exact shipping price for each person as they don't have addresses. They ball-parked the average shipping cost to USA, but I've added another $10 on top to cover any shipping and currency conversion variances. I hope that's enough, but may be worth to make it $15 or so. Still comes out a lot cheaper than buying one locally.

What is NOT included in the price
- any unexpected extra costs (someone living in Hawaii may end up paying more for shipping), see below for specifics:
-- PayPal fees if used to collect individual payments and send it to them
-- potential currency conversion variance (prices are calculated from British pounds via Google results, but bank's rate may differ slightly. If we send money in USD, Demon Tweeks will charge 5% currency conversion fee.
-- any potential import duties. in the past, when I've ordered individual parts and auto items form Europe (France, Germany, Poland) I never had to pay any import duties, customs fees, etc.
- no free bag with this order

UNKNOWN: Someone above noted that they had to pay customs/import fee. I would be glad to find out if all of us will end up with additional payment from the government, but no idea how to find out for certain. From my experience it depends on who and how looks at the package when it's clearing customs and how paperwork is filled out when seller sends the package.

What I propose: See if we can get order of 20 units. Collect payments via paypal personal to evade fees, have one person make the order for everyone. Feedback?

They can accept payment via PayPal or Credit Card and would prefer to have it in British pounds either via Credit card or by direct wire transfer. I feel safer with Credit card since wire transfers are fully non-reversible.
