Default New Miata records: Hypermiata @ Chuckwalla CW & CCW

Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. New Miata lap records in both directions. CCW 1:51.9 / CW 1:51.4 (old records 1:56.7 and 1:56.3 respectively)

Two day event at CVR, CCW Saturday then CW Sunday. Just a fun weekend getting laps in the car, getting more comfortable with it, etc. Kept data collection and adjustments light and just did lots and lots of laps. Fast laps in this thing requires a lot of trust in how fast it will go through sections. Car was happy to run all day long both days. Reminds me of tracking a naturally aspirated Miata just with the an entirely different performance envelope. Using leftover tires, had one set with over 20 heat cycles that I had already used at ACS, MRLS, and day 1 of SLB. Set 2 were fresher with just day 2 of SLB on them. Saturday's CCW time was on the old set. Switched to the fresher tires for the last session but never got clean laps, was doing 1:52's amidst traffic. CW was a little less drama on the fresher tires. It's a little ridiculous how fast the car is. Fastest car on track Saturday, 2nd fastest Sunday behind a GT1 class 911 Turbo on full slicks and the whole nine. Most cars in red group were doing ~6-12 seconds slower pace so clean laps were scarce because I'd almost always catch someone.

Yep, you were flying.

I am proud you only passed me once per day.
The way you rolled away in the T4/5/6/7 sweeper complex was nuts. I was on line and at the limit of adhesion with 225 RC1/wing/splitter and you very nonchalantly slipped right by, off line, on street tires.

Gangster.

I haven't been to Chuckwalla in forever, I love that track.

I love watching the braking markers go by as you give no f----

Also thank you for not using some horrible EDM/Dubstep junk in your video.

Huge props. I've driven that track hundreds of times and that is stupid fast.

Update. Chuckwalla CW 1:49.777 - Modified production car track record.

Returned this last weekend for testing. Winter updates include a bit more power, switch to XIDA triples, improved suspension range of motion and setup with 949 Racing, and Stoptech floating calipers. On 245 Maxxis RC-1s this time.

We didn't realize the significance of the lap time until later, at the time I was just stoked to see a sub-1:50. There were a couple bobbles in this lap; some indecision on what gear to be in on entry to T4 and brief fuel starvation coming out of T5. Ran some cleaner laps later in the day but the track and tires were a bit slower by then.

So you went with triple adjustable Xida's as the upgrade from Feal442. Did you pass on the Ace's due to class rules?

Correct, ACE would not be allowed in my class.

Pretty solid lap, can't wait to see the buildup to SLB. Good seeing you out there.

Have a cat.

Are you getting wheelspin on the curbs?

Holley hydramat may be a easy solution for the fuel starvation if it persists.

Surprised at the amount of wheelspin over the kerbs. We get less in S1's and we're running Torsens. Anyway congrats again on the project and reaching some early goals. Massive amount of work building, diligence in tuning then actually having to put together the flyer behind the wheel. Have a cat.

This has to be the best advertisement for the combo you are running. It looks pretty effortless considering the lap times.
