Default Anyone know anything about the new 1.6L BEGI Supercharger???

Sorry if I'm missing something here, but they just posted a new article on BEGI's site *yesterday* concerning development of an M45/M60 coldside supercharger system for 1.6L cars.

Anyone know anything I don't?

Sounds pretty sweet, as most stuff from BEGI usually is.

TIA,

Zac

Referenced article: BEGi - - Front Page News - 1.6L_supercharger

Interesting read. Title change suggestion: BEGI Supercharging Manifesto

I don't think they said anywhere that they were looking to get 350hp out of the setup, merely that the components included therein are good up to said power levels.

What I meant was, and what I understood from the article was that there would be an intercooler in the setup that would permit 350hp.

I want to know how that is going to be accomplished.

They're engineers, not English majors lol..

Anyway, thread is going a little off-topic.

So no one has heard anything yet?

I'm tempted to call BEGI but I assure you I would be simply wasting their time. So I won't.

The only way they are gonna get 350hp out of a supercharged miata motor is if they cram the AC evaporator between the supercharger and the engine.

I was going to work with Corky on a new coldside kit but we are at a stand still because of the autocross season. Plans are a a two TB system on a coldside 62 blower intercooled. We are also looking at the 90 blower. Now this is all for the 1.8l, I'm not a part of the 1.6l development. He is looking at 300HP (built motor of course), and Corky rarely doesnt meet his goals.

Doesnt article mention that two throttle bodies are bad?

I thought I saw someone that kept the stock throttle body and just used a blow off valve.

I expect that Hyper's new fuel system might get you there.

Actually,I was counting on Corky using the PC Pro.

I'm pretty sure that's what he meant by "350 hp intercooler".

To cut through every one's BS, I think the new systems are very nice. It will be cool to finally see a big HP supercharger system for the 1.6's.

Honestly the only reason I ever ditched my blower was because I couldn't make near the power i was craving.

But going turbo wasn't all bad I guess

Damn guys, I work at trying to use good English. Please point out my errors, as I was at least once educatable. It is possible the problem is I are an inguneer.

Now, I probably ought not to put a 350 HP CAPABLE INTERCOOLER in a 300 hp system for fear of someone thinking the IC will make boost all by itself. Still working on that one.

BTW, an AC consumes more power than can be made by the air it can cool. Try multiplying the CFM consumed by the air density (.07 ) and see what kind of mass the situation is dealing with. These things can produce flow rates that would consume about twice your body weight per minute. The AC would be a bit pressed......

Initially, no SC's with IC's. A tick later...
