Default M45 - crank overlay and a smaller pulley

Is anyone running both the 150mm crank overlay and a smaller 62.5mm nose pulley on an M45? I know that its going to be spinning the hell out of the charger, but if your running both please post the boost you have achieved and what you did to get there.

I don't know anyone running the combination but gary @ TDR has a pulley RPM chart that specify the blower RPM. http://www.trackdogracing.com/websit...lley_chart.htm

I run the 150 mm crank pulley and the stock nose pulley @ approx 9-10 psi.

I have the 150 crank overlay and 62.5mm nose pully from TDR but they are not installed yet. I know someone running the same and he is producing 10.5psi. I also know someone running simular running 9.5 psi.

With the crank overlay I am seeing about 8psi. I have new injectors and new cooling to go on along with the smaller nose pulley

You will not want to do this without some form of aftercooling. I ran the same set up on a Autocross car for a couple years and loved it but it did generate A LOT of heat. I was seeing about 9.5-10 psi at redline after the FMIC. It was VERY torquey and pulled strong all the way to the redline. You will want to use one of the "upgraded" belt tensioners and keep a couple spare belts with you. Depending on what you are using for engine management and the overall health of the rest of your set up you could see 190-200ish on the ground with this set up.

I already have a JR air/water intercooler with upgraded radiator (the JR one was a bit on the small side), but I also plan on fitting a water/methanol injection system.

This is my current setup.

on my 1.8 NB I get 8.6 to 9psi with a 150 crank 62.5 nose.

I have a PWR charge cooler with a huge rad and Water/Methanol injection

Couldn't tell you what power it puts out but it is way too much for the stock clutch

I also have no idea what power I'm getting at the wheels, but I have a stage 3 clutch to go in when I get the chance.

I have never heard anyone say any thing good about the JR A/W IC. I have heard the radiator, pump, core and reservoir are all undersized for the application. The outlet temps with the 150mmx62.5mm at redline on a hot day is going to be well over 240 degrees. Don't get me wrong the JR A/W IC is better than nothing but I think you would be happier with and would make more power with a FMIC. People talk about the reduced throttle response with a FMIC and you will notice a slight reduction but it is not "life altering" like many people make it out to be. With a MegaSquirt and 440ish injectors you could see in the neighborhood of 200RWHP and 175RWTQ. Torque will fall off in the higher RPMS due to the power it takes to spin the blower at those speeds and reduced efficiency of the little blower at those speeds.

Ahem, dual throttle bodies make all that reduced throttle response go away.

The radiator is way to small and most people I know replace it with a radiator from a Fiat Cinquecento sport.

Is that a drop in replacement?

We don't have Cinquecentos here, yet. I ran the 150mm on an M45 and got about 8psi.

Yes 150/62.5 gets 8psi with A-A IC, 129kW ARW and 440Nm ARW at 3000rpm then drops to 380Nm at 7000rpm. The poor little thing just runs out of puff.

I'm running just the 62.5 and I see 7.5-8 intercooled. I have a guy willing to sell me a crank overlay but plenty of people have told me that it's really not worth it, especially above 6K RPM.

< unsubstantiated supposition >

I've often thought that something like this:
http://www.siliconeintakes.com/produ...8fe34d79b21c60
Plumbed in using the factory AC core as a heat exchanger (huge surface area, OEM mounting, cheap) with whatever pump and reservoir (windshield washer?) you would want to use would make a decent A/W setup, if thats what turns you on.

It makes an absolutely fantastic setup. I'm not entirely sure about the A/C condenser part, but this intercooler is great. A customer's car, he goes by mx594m on the forums, has this with a Bosch water pump made for a Cobra water to air intercooler along with a 9x6x2.5 - ish (tiny) heat exchanger. With an m45 hot side kit, we absolutely could not push it over 140* IAT's. We flogged the absolute crap out of it on the street and on the dyno, and they were usually about 135* or lower. Now we are going to see what it does with a rotrex.

See, that's something that I've noticed a lot of people bitch about with the A/W builds... not enough surface area or volume in the tiny heat rejection radiators to effectively keep up with demand during sustained use. The effective ones I have seen all use a giant rad that might as well be a FMIC. I figured if you took your factory AC core (because you removed your AC, right?) drain it, cut off the ends and plumbed in some fittings... instant heat exchanger with OEM quality and mounting. Hell, you could set a thermoswitch on it to run the second fan (in cars that originally had AC) if the temp in the A/W loop got up to a certain setpoint. I bet you could even get an MS2 to control it using a relay. That Bosch/Cobra pump sounds like it would be ideal. Post up when you try the Rotrex, as this is quite relevant to my interests.

Edit: Haha! https://www.miataturbo.net/supercharger-discussion-38/water-air-intercoolers-46512/ Good to know none of my 'ideas' are unique...
