Default 94+ .188" RB sway bar on 1.6 chassis

What's all the fuss about 90-93 and 94+ RB sways? I've read that the link holes are roughly 1/2" - 3/4" off but I having a peak at my 1.8 and 1.6, the bars look nearly identical aside from a mild difference in hole position.

So they question is, can one run the 94+ .188" bar on a 1.6 chassis? Given my spring rates (10-12kg up front) and my intent to run R-compound tires, the .188" bar seems like a better combo.

Can I just slap the bar in and 'fix' the 'issue' with adjustable links?

Yes. All the bars between all the years swap around. The fit might not be perfect but it works. That reminds me I need to buy another pair of 1.125" aluminum shaft collars for my new bar.

So you're using the 1.125"?

I think I'm fretting over trivial things given that the car will never be in a competitive environment (I just threw parts on it without regard to a specific class). I'll probably hit Deven's 'for fun' once or twice a year and maybe an open track day. Whether I go 1.125" or 1.188" ... well, I doubt I'd notice a difference.

Yes the 1.125 .188 wall "race" bar. But mines a 94 chassis that its designed to "fit".

Alrighty - sold!

Thanks for the input. Considering there is no cost difference between the 1.125" and 1.188", it seems like going with the 'race' bar is the right approach just in case I do get the track bug (which is likely given all my hobbies tend to involve speed and buckets of money).

The sway bar mounts are moved forward on the 1.8 cars to clear the A/C compressor, so the bar is probably slightly different dimensionally, but it will still fit in either car.
