Anyway I kinda still expect the v8R ones to be a better option than DIY bilsteins if you're buying everything new. I'm running MSM bilsteins with 600/350 springs and they're fine, but I still wouldn't buy all new bits to recreate them if I was starting from scratch - the cost is way too close to better options.

I suppose. Billy setup runs $900-1000 with reasonable bells and whistles if you buy all new stuff. The biggest bonus for the bilstein setup is that they're well.... Bilsteins. Last forever, and can get them revalved if you want to really step up your game.

The DSDs have been around for a long time, haven't really ever heard anything about them. They look like every other china/taiwan/korean coilover on the market. I think when you lumped them with Meister at first, you were on the right track. ;)

But yeah. Easy buttons are nice.

Having ridden on Konis, billies and XIdas, wait for the Xida GS.

Xidas are worth the money, but I think it's silly for people to say "just get xidas" if you're just looking for a capable street/canyon carving setup on street tires. Yes they do ride better at higher spring rates and are far superior shocks, but a Bilstein setup is still a great way to go, though a bit expensive for buying all the bits new.

Finding a set of used Bilsteins in good shape is a really good way to do the budget billies while keeping them truly budget.

You shoudl read up on the budget bilstein thread....but it's very easy to get a set done up for less than $500, I've done it twice now with new springs, bump stops and sleeves.

The lack of mention of FM Fox setup is weird to me. I know only one person using those (in pretty bad roads) and his feedback was amazing.

Two reasons for that:
1. We're all 949Racing sackriders
2. You can get the widely proven Xidas for about the same money.

3) Not much data on the Fox
4) Mixed reviews within what little data we have

Rode in a KYata with Foxes and full aero on 245 RC1's and from the passenger seat they felt damn good. Not that that says much, but the owner is real happy with them. We had a four off excursion while clubbing baby seals and they soaked it up like it was nothing. Would be interested to test them out at street rates over less than ideal asphalt. As a recent Xida Gen2 convert I'm finding it real hard to argue with the hype train, though.

Because for $1900 you can be riding on Xida's. I am sure the Fox's are good, but I know the Xida's are great. At that price point I cannot see any reason to go with Fox's over Xida's. When Fox's start winning classes in the 25hours of thunder hill in a miata, then I might seriously start looking at them.

I would also venture to guess the FOX setup is more geared toward street comfort and occasional HPDE/AutoX work vs livable on the street but really geared toward sticky tires and track work.

I started leaning towards this, quick an easy, people seem to like them. I was thinking about the "Stage 2.5" from FM since comes with extended top hats and sway bars. I sent FM an email since it says they're on backorder, turns out they no longer carry illuminas for NA Miata's!

Any idea on when abouts these will be hitting the market? I'm interested, I may send 949 an email about these

I forgot to mention my wheels and tires before, I have 15x8 6ULs with 205/50 RE-71Rs. Suspension is currently completely stock, however I do have frame rails and a roll bar.

you don't need extended tophats. Just the "Stage 2" package would be a GREAT street setup. It's seriously a stupid comfortable, yet competent ride. I always recommend it for a street setup.

You can find the shocks elsewhere. But this is a set and forgot type suspension setup. there's no fussing with ride height or anything else. you put it on and forget about it.

Summit Racing appears to still have them at $140 each F/R.

That is very interesting to hear about the illumina's. I was going to be selling my setup with about 1000 miles on them once I purchased a set of GS's, but now I might not.

Last update I heard from 949 was GS are probably going to be out end of October. I believe XL should be start of October, ACE mid October, and then GS around the end.

Idk why i'm advocating for them as I don't own them or have any relationship with v8r. They just seem like a better option at the same or cheaper price to me than bilsteins diy's (even though I'm running those).
