That's a shame. I was going to say though that .5" steel might be over kill, that's cereal plating. So are the wilwood calipers thinner, or only two pot? Contact cueball, he has mini calipers like bbundy, I bet he'd throw some spare change your way to make some good brackets.

Curly, I think the wilwoods are just a lot narrower. These RX7 calipers are unusually humongous (width wise). From the rotor hat, they stick out 1 3/4" toward the wheel spokes. There is only 1 1/4" clearance at best to the spokes on my wheel from the rotor hat right now. Probably less. |

Have you tried spacing the wheel off with some washers to see if spacing a moderate amount (20mm to 30mm) will get the wheel far enough away from the caliper? If so I have an idea that could be a solution to your mounting bracket.... |
looking at the the tr motorsports wheels im fairly sure they can fit with a smaller spacer but still not enough to fit under stock body as far as this other mounting solution post it!!!

Maybe thats not as bad as i'm making it out to be in my head. .5" is what, less than 20mm? Its just nuts how wide these fucking things are. |

The Pro Race 1's have ~2" from the mounting surface to the inside of the spoke near the hub. Going by the picture it looks like you'd need ~2.5" to clear the calipers. |

deciving part of that caliper is the little bump on the end of it im probly going to grind that down on the spare one i picked up tonight to see if any of that can be take away with out hurting but thats the worst part as far as fitment goes on wheels ive tried.
and as far as price just to give people an idea. i got 4 front calipers thats 2 left 2 right for 100 shipped on ebay and the one i got tonight was was $10 localy from a friend who has owned a few fc3 he said they arent worth much since most of the fc guys are doing evo brembos now and just to give an idea of how easy they can fit once we have a bracket fabbed to fit the rx7 brakes asuming we dont cut the stock mounts off... http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=719567 |

The spokes would have to come WAY outside of the edge of the rim or they would have to be so thin that they would surely not even last any amount of time at all.
For example... look at those pictured XXR wheels in this thread... they are 0 offset and stick out past the lip. (face design) where the same spec of wheel in a different face and hub mounting design with a straight spoke (say XXR 002) has considerably less bbk clearence. You could get a 6ul spec'd wheel with bbk clearence by adding to the mounting surface (similar to a spacer without the shittiness of a spacer), but your face would be closer to the exterior of the wheel. 1.75" is quite a bit to do on a track spec wheel, but not impossible (you just wont have a lip, the spokes will be even with the face like a honda wheel. |
