I LIKE the STOCK MIATA SUSPENSION BETTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE!! But I have a question.
Hello to all ---
First off let me preface - I cannot stand miata.net - the closeminded, sheeple, collective borg-think astounds me as the miata us SUPPOSED to be an enthusiasts car. So im mposting here with the assumption that you people here are more openminded since turbo modiification required invidual thought and creativity.
Now to my question.
I LOVE the stock miata suspension. I am not knocking ANYONE here with a lowered car - I have just driven so many lowered miatas - all sorts of kits -- and I can't get over their common failure - limited suspension travel. The 'ugly wheel-gap' in the stock miata is what permits me to have so much fun as I can take the car from spring extended to spring fully compressed on every turn. And best of all I can FEEL this suspension travel.
I feel the classic body-roll that TELLS ME where the car is at in the turn. Many who are pro-lowering always say the same thing "lowering eliminated body roll" -- WHY ON EARTH would I want to eliminate that beautiful miata body roll and all its awesome feedback.
In a hard turn I can literally tell how far I am from spinning out by feeling how much the spring has compressed and the body is rolling, or squating to the opposite side. In a lowered miata there is now warning - it feels sticky and flat as a go-kart.. which is cute... but then you spin out with absolutley no warning! No feel, no tire screetch.. it literally hugs the road one second and the next you are in a 360 degree spin. This is not fun to me - its nerve wrecking and not confidence inspiring.
Unfortunately the love-affair with aftermarket lowering springs is more of a closeted-ricer based emotional one, rather than a logical one. In fact when I first got a miata years back I wanted to lower it -- that is UNTIL I drove a few that were. Go kart, go kart, go kart, WIPEOUT [no warning]
EEWW!
What happened to that classic roadster feel?
So anyway my question is - is there ANY WAY to LOWER a miata and retain ALL - 100% suspension travel? And I literally mean in INCHES -- im NOT sure the exact stock suspension travel, but lets say its 3 inches. Is there any possible way to lower the car but still have the wheel able to travel the 3 inches up and down?
Thanks.
PS - this is NOT an attack on lowered cars, NOR an invitation for you to tell me lowering is better etc -- I LIKE AND ENJOY ALL lowered miatas, they just dont fit my 'line walking' driving style on public roads. Im simply looking to see if anyone has mathematically retained stock suspension travel distances on a lowered car. For instance if the shcok mounts on all 4 wheels could be 'raised' and inch upward, while you lower the car 1 inch.. would something like this work? Does such a shock mount exist?
Thanks in advance - and REMEMBER - I LOVE LOWERED MIATAS - Im not hating on your lowered people AT ALL!
Peace

Case in point, I drive up this mountain all the time and theres a college there, im not gonna say which one (university of the south) and there is this wild haired professor always bombing the mountain top down. He has stock suspension, and is a professor, so i think he knows better than an internet elite member.
Mazda has created the best selling roadster ever, dont you think they would have dropped it if it was the right thing to do?

100% sure that a Miata with stock suspension and a turbo, has a shitty turbo set up. What the hell does being a professor have to do with being a good driver or one that can communicate the shortcomings of a vehicle? after all, they are teachers of academics, not race car driving instructors.
I read a lot, on miataturbo. That's why right now, to us, you sound like a misinformed individual who says they like open minds, but are very closed in their own..

My predecessors have tried to bring you "miata turbo: to enlightenment back in 2008 and again in 2010 but you have shunned them much like you have me. Ill have you know that for all the reading you are doing on this site, you sure are very involved in being a cyber bully. You should work on yourself before you go and have the gull to judge someones mind.
