Default Identify this differential

I bought a car and parted it out a while back. The guy I bought it from claimed that it had a rx7 differential in it. After doing some research, I found that it was owned by a drifter named ej. In the video he said it had a kaaz 1.5 differential.

I've looked at pictures to try to see if I can identify it. It looks like a kaaz from pictures I've seen. I couldn't find any marking to identify it.

So can anyone confirm that this is a kaaz or rx7 or what?

pretty sure its not An Rx7. If I remember right the Rx7 clutch type has a cast like housing rather than looking like it was machined from billet.

From the pictures I think it could also be an OS-Giken

I think it could be an OS Giken

For reference -
OS Giken, KAAZ, AE86 diff

That's interesting. Is there another angle I could take a picture of to help identify?

I say KAAZ, as it's less rounded. Just like in the Giken vs KAAZ picture.

Take a closer picture of the adjuster thing in the middle. It will tell how the diff is setup.

Here is my diff too. Came from a japanese car. It is a 1.5 way for sure. Didn't manage to identify it though.

Its a Salisbury type of some sort. It is not a giken, the giken have a sort of textured finish on them and say giken on them, and the salisbury cam setup doesnt look as clean and professional as a giken. Could be a kaas or custco.

Are you sure that order is right? I don't remember my OS-Giken as having that rounded shoulder. I'm almost certain it didn't look like that. closer looking to the middle one.

I also seem to remember OS giken logo laser etched into the cover plate on the drive flange side of the diff. Looked like the Picture on 949's website.

+1, the middle diff is a Giken.

Pretty sure the OP's diff is a Kaaz.

I got excited for a second. What do you guys think? Is a kaaz worth keeping? Or would a rx7 or torsen be better? I'll probably be driving it as a daily but I still want take it to the track. Will be na for now but want to turbo it soon.

I'd rather have the kaaz than the rx7, but I'd rather have the torsen over both of them unless the car had to be setup in a way that could just not keep the inside rear down then I would favor the kaaz.

Anything is better then an open.
If you don't keep the diff, what do you plan on getting?

Welded

Ill probably use it but if I plan to get another I might consider a giken. But just because of what I've read of kaaz vs giken. I don't know enough about differentials now to know what would be better.

Gikens are crazy expensive.
I wouldn't mind welded, I have a strong hate for my open.
