Wow, im happy i read this thread. LMFAO

SO, did you bring the car in with the sway bar off? Or did the shop take it off and forget about it? Either way refabbing the sway bar over fabbing new intercooler pipes sounds backasswards.

chicksdigmiatas 02-28-2010 10:45 PM

This thread was like getting a root canal. Stupid shops piss me off, i wouldn't have given them a dime. Seriously, don't even let those retards work on your push mower.

+1 on them not being able to route it. I think this is the most retarded thing I have seen in awhile, not you, but the shop. You should print out pictures of all of the NA DIY intercooler setups here (there are several) as well as the FM and BEGI routings, take them with you to the shop, and shove the pictures down their throats. Do not turn around the swaybar. That is retarded. You can put it on spacer blocks if that will help, but seriously they need to fix the intercooler setup before doing that. A Miata without a front swaybar is like a hot female nympho without a vagina.

Seriously that shop gets a big fail. You should share the name so it can be posted in a sticky to keep others well away from them.

Ok, FINALLY got the miata back, had a ton of trouble getting her to fire on all cylinders. Finally replaced the ingnitor. I officially think i need to bitch slap the shop i had her at, they drove her across the parking lot everyday for a week while i was out of town running on two cylinders and when i went crazy bitch on them they had no idea why. ANYWAYS

Car is safely back in the garage. Need an alignment and still need to find a shop to fix intercooler system and one to fix the top [they tore a whole where the back window connects to the top because they didnt know you had to UNZIP the back window before putting the top down, they are paying to fix it] Finally got pics, they're probably impossible to see where things route since i have no lift and the IC piping is in the way of the motor mounts.

[ignore the 4x4 look, that will be fixed next]

this is the side that has the bent sway bar mount and they just put the IC pipping right under it

Thats all i could get, sorry if they suck :/

Nagase 03-17-2010 04:17 PM

The pictures really don't suck. :)

Looks quite nice! Mind if i ask what paint you used for the valve cover? It's pretty cute.

Braineack 03-17-2010 04:21 PM

now your car is fast and will handle like shit, great job!

I can't believe they couldn't figure it out...and it would have been so much easier on them if they used 2" piping.

Savington 03-17-2010 04:27 PM

That doesn't look fixed. You need a front sway bar or you are going to wreck the car.

Yeah, and then they wouldn't have had to stretch couplers where they really should have used real silicone adapters.

There is so much fail under your hood...

Braineack 03-17-2010 04:30 PM

is that a 1.8L motor? what ECU are your running? and where's the line from the idle valve going to (left side of rad)

Just noticed that, wtf...

I say you go autocross it immediatly, and have someone take pictures.

I predict this:

The sway bar is going to be fixed, got a new bracket to replace the one thats bent, but i dont trust that shop to do it so we will get it taken care of ourselves. I see where youre coming from with the 2" piping and will probably end up doing that. Thanks for the input :)

The sway bar will be fixed, for now i'm taking corners slow. I'm not driving her much right now since she needs an alignment anyways.

Again, i agree, they shouldve used 2" piping, but its going to be fixed.

Yes its a JDM 1.8L [not sure what the benefits are of that, but they are plentiful] I'm running an AEM EMS standalone system. The idle valve is routed right under the headlight and has a filter on it. The tuner said we had to do something with it before he'd tune it so we made a quick run to autozone for hose and filter, that will most likely be changed when we fix the intake [its to close to the fan for my personal taste]

All in all i'll admit, this build has been a learning experience. But I'm young, what can I say? We're doing an oil change and putting 20w50 in it to help with the bushing style turbo instead of the 10w30 thats currently in it. Future builds will be planned out a little better, and I'll definantely look for a shop that has played with miatas alot more than the one I chose.

If it makes anyone feel better, someone got fired from the shop because of my build and someone else is on probation :giggle: maybe next time they'll do shit right

svtkate 03-17-2010 04:56 PM

Oh and the weird offset looking thing with the front tire is a fucked up fender, its stock offset.

The JDM BP is identical to the USDM BP :noob:

There were some differences with the JDM BP4w and BPZ3.
But yah, most likely its not a JDM engine at all, or if it is someone wasted a bunch of money importing an engine they could have gotten here.
