Default Minimum clearance between caliper and wheel

Hello, I was test fitting some 6 piston dynapro's under some 15x8 and was wondering how much clearance I should be looking for? I am measuring .84" or 2.134mm from the tip of the caliper to the barrel of the rim where It starts to narrow to meet the spokes. Should I look into a wheel spacer? I have the 949 chubs and extended studs with a 3mm spacer. Was thinking I would got to a 5mm spacer if I need more.

Would go up to 5mm if you have the space. 2mm is too close for my liking

Is the extra width of a 5mm space going to increase radial clearance? I read the OP question as clearance to the barrel, not the spokes.

It might, if the barrel is not perfectly cylindrical at that point.

He mentioned "barrel of the rim where It starts to narrow to meet the spokes", so I was thinking it was the transition from the barrel to the face. If that's not the case, then you are right.

Oh its got plenty of clearance to the spokes. Just a part of the barrel gets a little close

but its only that tip. The rim gets wider after that

I have probably 2mm or so... its not much with the big Afco F88 calipers... I had to grind on them a bit to get them to clear the wheel. No issues in 3 years and im not gentle on them.

Most Big Brake Kits recommend their clearance template have 3 mm of clearance to any portion of the rim. If you have 2.1 mm you might get away with it, but adding another mm to 3 mm of spacer will certainly give you enough.

2mm between wheel and brake caliper is the legal minimum for tech inspection in germany. 1mm to wheel weights, 4mm to suspension parts and 6mm to everything else. I'd say you're safe.

We prefer 3mm everywhere (~.120"). Wheels, spindles, brackets flex.
