Motor mounts and shifting
#26
No. I thought it would interfere with the OE bracing but it does not. It attaches to the rearmost lower control arm mounts of the front subframe. The picture above has all the stock bracing possible and the Carbing unit does not bother them.
The brace is installed and has made shifting crisper for sure. It has also reduced (not eliminated) clutch shudder. It has given me more leeway of engaging the clutch, but if I dod it too harshly, I still get some shudder. I'll be keeping the brace in. Also, after installing it, it doesn't seem to really sit lower than the stock chassis bracing on the 01+ cars.
I see Rev9 notes "for NA only"....though I don't see how it wouldn't fit the NB chassis. I've understood that it fits both. The PO of mine had his on an NA and it fit up to my NB without problem....though somehow or another he had the damn thing bent like a rainbow and I had to massage it back to being straight to install it. In the attached picture, I have highlighted in RED where it attaches and runs across.
Install tips-
* Remove transmission bolts first
* On the side mounting bolts- only get them in a few turns, leave them fairly loose as you'll want the brace to have some play in it to reinstall the two transmission bolts. The mounting bracket for the trans. bolts will interfere with your ability to get a socket on the trans bolts if you tighten up the side bolts first.
*Tighten down the trans bolts before the two outer mounting bolts.
Final note- It seems Carbing has redesigned the brace. The one pictured on page 1 looks much more bulky and would hang lower. Notice the one I posted at the top of this page has a slimmer profile and shorter mounting tabs. You will also see the one on Rev9's page looks like the one I posted with the more rounded profile. I have a feeling the early ones were getting beat up quite a bit more.

Doppelgänger: i just got the brace today...but when i tried to mount up everything...it seems like the rubber pieces have to be in tension for the 2 ends of the brace to bolt up to the subframe....that those "ear" tabs look like they might interfere with the control arms...did you have the same issue?

I had no issues when installing mine. Unless you have a facked subframe or something is wrong, when you hold it up to the general mounting area, you will see it uses a small hole on the bottom of the subframe where the LCA is, but it should not interfere.
Look st the top of this picture where you can see the three holes in the subframe at the LCA mounting area-
The brace uses the inner most hole for mounting. It should not bother the LCA at all.
