Need Clutch Disc Replacement due to Oil Foulilng
So I had/have a rear main seal leak. I tried some of the rear main seal additive and the oil all but stopped coming out. I'm still waiting for it to completely dry up as they say it can take up to two weeks. I'm trying to decide what to do about the clutch that was fouled with oil because of the leak. About 50% of the people say it will fix itself and 50% of people say it will never grip again. I started looking at clutch disc only replacements. I have stock power and currently running a 1.6 OEM replacement disc in 1.8 car. Before the leak I did have once inchident (heh) of clutch slipping trying to launch, but other than that it was fine. Having it a bit more rev happy was great for heel toeing on track days as well. I'm curious if anyone know if it is possible or had done a "stage 1+" clutch disc replacement while keeping the pressure plate OEM. I'm not sure if that does anything at all or if I would run into issues. I ask b/c good win racing sells a $130 "stage 1" clutch disc on its own and I thought, might as well spend the $10 more and get that, but before I do something stupid that I've never done before, I'd ask here.
