Ohlins Longevity?
I made a thread a while back about eventually possibly getting Keisler's drop spindles, so I got in contact with him about different suspension setups that have worked with them. I originally wanted Xidas, but sadly they're not compatible. He recommended to get Ohlins as they are in the same quality range as Xidas.
Someone posted in a page I follow on Facebook about how Ohlins apparently will destroy themselves in a few years and I was wondering if anyone has had good or bad luck, either way, with their Ohlins coilovers.

Do the ohlins work either? I feel like you'd be best by calling one of the penske/bilstein/hvt builders around and having a set made. The drop spindles get you way a couple more inches in allowed shock body length which should make it easier to get the amount of travel xidas have in an off the shelf sized shock.

I was looking into the drop spindles, you can get your XIDAS modified by Inertia Labs.... email John or Chris@inertialaboratory.com
You buy the xidas, and have them shipped new to John, they only need to make a small change (i think it was an extended rod or something) and it's good with the Keisler drop spindles.
Oh, and on the longevity/reliability aspect, if you are driving hard or on the track, you should expect a rebuild frequently, as that is a consumable.

Complete BS that Ohlins will destroy themselves. I've had a set of Ohlin DFVs on the car for more seasons that I can remember. In fact, the car I built and sold before this one (6-7 years ago), is still going strong on a set of Ohlins from about 8-10 years ago. I send mine out every couple of seasons for inspection and fresh oil. In all of these years, the shocks have always come back looking great. Yes, I receive shock dyno plots as part of the service. The oil looks OK after one season, and is just about ready to be changed out after two. My suspension guy would love to build and sell me a set of custom Penske shocks, but can't justify telling me that the Ohlins are in tough shape - they are not. He's never even had to swap out the shim stack, other than the original re-valving from day-1 (for heavier springs).

Who said Ohlins destroy themselves? They don't. They work great.
