Speedo Sensor: '90 4.3 VLSD to '02 3.9 LSD
Hi all,
I was hoping someone could give me some help with correcting my speedometer after swapping in a 3.9 Torsten LSD from a 2002 into my 1990 which previously had the original 4.3 VLSD.
I've scoured the Internet for information on it, but I can't seem to come up with a solution. It seems many people just live with the in accuracy of the speedometer.
Obviously the speed sensor needs to be changed or modified, however The 90 has a mechanical/cable speed sensor believe the 02 has an electronic speed sensor. I have no problem purchasing the correct speed sensor and installing, but how do I get my car to except it?
The car will be running on 15x9, 225/45/15's.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have stock gauges? Revlimiter can make custom gauge faces and can correct for speedometer inconsistencies when he prints them.
Aside from a bit of black magic speedo gear swaps, I haven't found a definitive solution aside from converting clusters or throwing in a GPS speedometer in the cluster.

You shouldnt have to do anything to make it bolt into and work in the transmission. If your are capable of swapping the gear from the electronic sending unit to the mechanical one, then you should have no problems.
Yea it'll just read the wrong speed. Mines about 10mph off after 30mph
I guess I just have to take a look. I see what you're saying... take ONLY gear from the electronic unit and transfer it over to my existing mechanical unit. I guess the only way to find out is to give it a shot.

I bought mine from Chikara motorsports out of Vancouver CA. Their website currently sucks for some reason however. http://chikaramotor.com/catalog/
