Steering rack depower question
All, I'm depowering the rack the full way (pinion is off at the welder as we speak). Anyways, while cutting off the inner seal, the snap ring inside of the seal seen on the rack in this photo: http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/depower.php?x=9
was munged by the chisel that I used to separate the joint, so I removed it. Any harm in this or should I be sourcing a new seal for this? I don't see how it helps catch on anything but I could be wrong.

You don't need it. I removed it when I did my depower.

Appreciated. Great writeup as well. Couple questions. What type of grease did you pack it with, and any suggestions for getting the nut free from the locking collar? They seem to be fused as one for me.
