Default Stupid question: Stiffer, longer springs

Anyone know if the later Miatas had higher rate/longer length springs? Looking for a cheap (non-coilover, non-custom) way to get my Miata raised with stiffer springs. I'm thinking a normal shock should work ok with those, and should be able to get out more height with lightening.

Why: Rally possiblities.

That's a good point. Ebay coilovers, I've heard lose a bit of travel, but I'd be more than making up for that... Worried about the maching required to get them to fit though. I don't have a lathe/mill/tig/mechanical omipitance like some I've seen on the m.net ebay coilover thread to get them to fit though.
