So it looks like there's enoug interest in this. I'm in the process of selling my current truck and getting a miata, which i need to make the bars so that they fit perfect. Second design or first shouldnt be a problem. Hopefully I will have a car within the next few weeks and wil get on making these asap.

Dunno whether the doorbar thing got anywhere. If not, here's another door bar concept that has some merit.
It's from some JDMmadtiteyo website, a design from a million years ago that nobody's thought to copy yet. These would be less intrusive than the others that have pictured elsewhere in the thread:
Version 2, apparently:
You get the idea.
Anyway, the ones pictured here appear to be some kind of extruded aluminum. Really, you'd want cheaper/stiffer rectangle-section steel, and you'd definitely want to tie the two triangles together so there's no unsupported section in the middle. Plus make the footplates large...

If that is the way they do it, I would not want them unless the door bar attachment was VERY RIGIDLY attached to the bottom roll bar bracket, like with a huge, tight fitting, large bolt. Or welding would work too. If there is any movement at that joint, it will not stiffen the chassis as well.
I think they have the right idea on the shape of the door bar itself, but why not just attach it to the rear panel (behind the seat) like Hard Dog does it? They use a plate that is drilled to match the roll bar mount; they share the same bolts.

Sorry it's taken me a while to respond here. I've just been so busy now since getting the car. Now I'm ready to start making these, should have some prototypes done next week, then I can start shipping them out. Planning on doing the version with two bends that has the bar running parralel with the floor. I also need to figure out what you guys want as far as hardware coming with it and paint?

Alright so these are for sure happening, and by the 23 of november i will have some ready to be shipped. I've decided to go with the second design posted, it warranted more interest. They are going to be for NA cars, as thats what i have to build off of, and does anyone have pictures of where the bethania garage bars are mounted on the floor? I'll post the build pictures once i get them started, next week sometime. thanks guys

I have the Harddog door bars and drive it every day with no problems what so ever. As for it not destroying your leg in a side impact have you not looked on Harddogs crash pictures? Comparison is no footwell and 3/4 footwell with door bars. If you can crash and wreck the door bars to crush your legs you are doing 130+ I'd guess

I'm working one getting these made right now, it's just taking longer to expected to get the bending die from the company i bought it from. Just to clarify, the bethania bars DO need holes drilled in the floor and behind the seat to mount?
