Default TrakMotive CV Axle vs OEM CV Axle

Sadly I had to get rid of my current 1.8 axles due to the wheel hubs just refused to come off no matter what... Used a slide hammer, air impact. Nothing budged it. Said screw it, I'll buy new axles and took off the axle with everything on it. (Converting to a dual brake setup so I didn't need the old knuckles anyways)

I ordered a set of Trakmotive cv axles (MZ8178) and was wondering if anyone has ran these on their cars. If my car was stock I wouldn't really care but I'm pushing 300whp... Supposedly their built to OE spec but who knows with these aftermarket company's.
I'm thinking of installing the Trakmotives for now and switch to my spare OEM axles if they break, but if someone has used these before and know they are garbage. I won't waste my time and energy installing these.

Too late for you this time, but for future reference the answer to separating axles/uprights is often a press, sometimes a bloody big press. 20 tons will usually do it, sometimes involving soaking in penetrating oil and leaving overnight in the press, but occasionally 60 tons is required.

Last time I did mine I used a smear of anti-seize when reassembling.

How'd you press it? I'm assuming with the nut threaded on slightly? I tried a jaw puller as well, but I ended up mushrooming the tip of the axle ...

I also flared the end of the axle trying to use a press. Best solution for me was to pull the hub with a big *** slide hammer using the towel method, and even then it took a lot of whacks before it came loose.

So when I was comparing the two, seems like the Trakmotive isn't the right length. Seems almost half a inch shorter then oem. (Bought these from rock auto for my year and model)
I would take a picture, but I just slapped the used oem axles in and called it a day.

I have learned not to trust rockauto cv axles and just stick with oem. I'll probably try to save my old axles by grinding the old knuckles off.
But if anyone used these axles before, I'm still curious on how they performed!

Definitely keep the nut on!

I never physically set up the axle/upright on the press myself, that was done by the workshop operator. So I can't tell you much except that it was not easy/simple.
