Koni Race Shocks on sale at Tire Rack
FYI Koni Races are on sale right now at Tire Rack. $215 each plus shipping is what I was quoted (NA Miata) when I called. They are out of stock but are supposed to be getting some next week. That is the cheapest by far I could find them anywhere. I think the other Konis (non Race) may be on sale too, something like 20% off.
Koni Race Part #s for NA Miata
8041-1203RACE front
8041-1204RACE rear
They come with bumpstops but you still need everything else, like springs, perches, tophats, blow, hookers... I figured those who might be shopping for track shocks might like to know. I had to get mine elsewhere since I needed them fast otherwise I would have been all over this.
You can run really high spring rates with these, up too 1000 lb/in apparently. Plenty of info here and at miata.net on Koni Race shocks.
Not affiliated, blah, blah.

Not to put words in his mouth but Savington indicated in one of his threads that the Races were livable on the street with 750/450 springs IIRC. So they could be dual purpose, but definitely skewed towards the track.
That being said the Koni Sports are cheaper and can support up to 500 lb springs IIRC.

I'm running 550/300 on my sports, while I would consider it livable, it doesn't excuse the fact that I'm swapping them out for a 400/250 combo that I know will ride much better. From what I read the Races will be harsher. I'm really not a fan of the crazy fast rebound my konis coupled with higher springs rates. But I'll head to Sav's word.
Damon is just a sucker for a good deal and just needs to install his Tiens for his street car.

I should know pretty soon how decent they are on the street, hopefully by the end of this weekend when I take the car in for alignment. I'll even see how they feel with a totally crap alignment on the way there
Then track testing will come next weekend.

Yeah they are not on their web site. I had to call them. You might even try dropping rudy@tirerack over on miata.net a PM. He has a gazillion posts in the tire forum so he is easy to find.

So I drove the car today on the street and though the suspension is really stiff it is not unbearable. You definitely feel all of the bumps but I still have all of my fillings intact.

what spring rates are you rocking. I experience the same with my 550/300 combo, but I'm just a big ***** and I decided to setup the car for more comfort for DDing but able to still hang out on the track competent enough for my street tires.
