Hello, just finished up my turbo miata heres a video on youtube YouTube - Turbo miata first start up
i just put it on the ground tonight, i have 15" 0 offset sportmax 002 rims with 205/50/15 in the front, and 225/50/15s in the rear. Took it down the street just rubbing like crazy on the fenders about a millimeter clearence. My suspension right now i have bilsteen shocks with voltland lowering springs, FM sways, and FM rear upper shock mounts. Are my springs to soft? My question is can i just buy harder springs so it wont rub when i hit the throttle, or would i have to do springs and shocks all over again? Any help would be nice i want to get this thing on the road, right now im just running my wheels. Thanks.

Bubba?

stranges12712 05-21-2009 12:31 AM

yup aha i got my car running

UrbanSoot 05-21-2009 03:03 AM

first you should ditch those wheels. they are horrible. second - you either need to get fender flares or raise your car up. harder springs wont solve the problem.

kotomile 05-21-2009 07:11 AM

It doesn't even look low at all to me. I think most of the Sportmaxxxxx crowd ditches the fender liners and rolls (maybe pulls also) the fenders.

Yes you don't "need" fender flares. Rolling/pulling should help, along with removing the fender liners. I had to put .660" spring spacers on all four corners to keep from rubbing on mine.

What are the spring rates of voltland springs? Never heard of them.

I think he means Vogtland

Tein is the best choice if you want adjustability...

BenR 05-21-2009 11:17 AM

225/50/15s on 0 offset? That's going to need a bit more than a pull. You're going to need flares. Wtf made you decide on this combination?

That reminds me, I want a set of tein's but I only have $50 to spend. Any ideas?

Congrats on the turbo build. Built motor and quality parts in the engine bay. Well done.

Flares or get some wheels with a proper offset. Style bar has gotta go now too! You've got real power, get yourself some real protection.

I was all excited for another good suspension thread on this forum.

:ban?:

stranges12712 05-21-2009 06:09 PM

Well, i do have fender flares, but my dads going nuts saying you dont chop the body on a car dont know why he wont let me...i wanted the bigger tires in the back to hold down the power if that makes sense and the look. A guy at work did tell me about those spring spacers. I think i choose those rims because ive seen another body with them and i think it looked good. I still have my stock springs and some cheap ebay 30$ lowering springs lol. Already spent to much money on wheels to lose my shirt on them...this is a pain.

stranges12712 05-21-2009 06:12 PM

I know this is off topic but i hooked up my wideband by the instructions and it reads 7.4 and the l.e.d. doesnt shut off so it calibrates, and when i push the button the guage just gets brighter. If anyone can help me with that it would be great. And if anyone has a turbo map for the MS that i could use that would also help me. I just need it running so i can drive to toronto and get it dyno tuned. Thanks.

Nice LEDs man :p

UrbanSoot 05-21-2009 08:40 PM

ok... here is your new setup:
15x7 +25mm to +35mm
225/45/15 all around
fm springs

votgland springs are complete crap and its generally not a good idea to run different size rubber on miata front to rear.

Braineack 05-21-2009 08:48 PM

I think you need -10 offset.

stranges12712 05-22-2009 12:12 AM

well i think im going to buy a set a the FM springs tm, the wheels im keeping like i said cause i will lose my shirt on them lol, il get the FM's see how they work out. And it was alot lower then last year i think cause the dynamat i used on the car and the JL sub...spent 600$ on dynamat lol. -10 offset would like sickkkkkkkkkkk man, i get my balls busted all the time for having this car and throwing $30,000+ into it, but what you gona do, i love the car, just hope it puts out what i hope.

AlexO35 05-22-2009 02:21 PM
