Yes please, four complete fenders.

In (though you already know this ;) )
DG does quality stuff. They make many of our body pieces for the NC; everything from lip spoilers to full one-piece front clips. The turbo NC here has every body piece replaced with carbon by them besides the rear quarter, and just got a set of flares done in CF to round that out. Everything is top notch. I'd like to see a full panel that allows one to cut out the steel quarter panel behind it if they so desired - just leave the perimeter of the quarter panel for the new composite fender to be bonded to. |
Having just gone through the effort to make the existing DG (ex-AWR) wide-body kit work, I can attest to the fitment issues. Much custom work required (at great expense), if you want it to blend nicely. And the rears are way wider than the fronts, for some reason.
I second the motion for integrated front fascia, instead of the adapter panels. Getting wide wheels/tires to fit at full compression and steering lock requires significant cuts to the fascia, which in turn creates significant aero exposure to the tire. From a visual standpoint, I'm not a fan of the NASA PT/ST style straight-down air dam, but understand the rules implications. Would rather see an integration that blends nicer into a splitter, with openings for brake ducts at the appropriate place. Both of these adds can be optional, but making provision for them in the design makes it way easier. For those that missed my build thread, here's what the existing wide-body kit can look like with lots of man-hours of work... https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1454022748 |
Having used the AK 30mm fenders, I know it's possible to blend them into the front fascia. I'm more concerned with just getting the tires on the car so our focus will be just fenders, not a new front skin too. That said, an aero nose is an interesting project.. that I will leave to someone else to do. Ryan's name all over it :)

We talked to DG about doing a Production-style full front bumper last year, but it just didn't make enough sense to go down that road. That product would be fighting an uphill battle against the budget-friendly DIY version that is so well documented at this point that the market for it would be very small. And it would have to be urethane, which drives the price up over fiberglass. Tire spats may not be the prettiest thing, but they're easy to make and solve the aero issues. I have plenty of wild ideas for a really aero nose, but the further it strays from an OE look that would work on lots of cars, the smaller the market shrinks.. and we're back to DIY being the best bang for the buck.

I want something that looks like autokonexion aero fenders for an NB.

In for NA AWR style fenders. In my eyes, there hasn't been any other option than the AWR kit that looks good and actually helps aero somewhat. Bolt on anything looks like crap. No companies seem to understand the need for covering the tires up as much as possible.

I'm confused... I read that the 245/40/15 maxxis tire on a 10" 6UL will fit under an NB with only a fender roll...
Why would NB owners want 30mm wider fenders? Do the 245 maxxis stick out significantly even with the roll? Thanks |
^^ I was under that impression too.
That said, I do think 30mm fenders and running 15x10 with a slightly higher offset would give more breathing room and get rid of the usual contact issues with UCA/Sway bar etc with +25 in 15x10 or +36 in 15x9. Something like these fenders with a 15x10 +15 like you can get Jongbloed's in would be nice. |

He just posted pics in another thread with the 245's on 15x10 6UL's fitting his personal 01 NB with just a flat roll.
