I once ran 17x7 front and 17x10 rear, on your mom.

 

If you like the 17x9s just see if you can find a set to try out. The offset & tire size would play a big part along with how low you are. People on the S2 has tried 18x10s +22mm with fender rolling/cutting neg camber & stretched tires. It'll work, & to some people it'll look great while others really don't care for it. I would personally stick to 16s being the largest in diameter.

I have 2 Miatas sitting outside is that not good enough? One Turbo other N/A. Have 2 sets of XXRs. One is +15mm @ 15x8 & the other was 0 offset @ 15x8 also. Unless I'm not seeing something people don't post in here much. If old threads are not up for discussion just lock them or remove them instead of banning people who are still interested in the topic. Thought I could share a little knowledge coming from doing a lot of fender rolling & getting wheels people say are impossible to fit, work. Other forum(Meaning my other 3 cars) you can still reference old threads & people are helpful & still chime in.

Ive seen that video, what actually happed?

 

From what i can see, the bolts are still on the hubs so its not the bolts. From what i can find he was using lightweight nuts. I'm guessing ebay special Billet aluminum aircraft quality space shuttle toughness thingamagiga wheel nuts from the future telephoned by the terminator him self.. Thats why all 4 rims came off as soon as he put pressure on them.
