Long time lurker, first time poster!

As we continue through this Covid-19 mess, I've gained some extra time, money and motivation to getting my beloved FM2 '90 Miata back on the road. After letting the car sit for some time, I've come to realize that my tire research for the project is a bit out-of-date as well as... well it just escaped me. The car had open-heart surgery and received a donor '99 motor and is now making 260whp. I was looking for a nice sticky daily driveable tire that can handle the rainy springs/summers of Pennsylvania. I'd also like to stick with my 15x7 Kosei K1 wheels as I quite enjoy them but am willing to go bigger to fit a bigger tire. I was looking at 225's but remember seeing some forums suggesting 245's(not quite sure what the wheel setup was for this) for daily driving around my power range. I am aware I'll have to either roll my fenders or go with fender flares for just about any setup to fit. Does anyone have any recommendations that would fit under these conditions or would you have any suggestions to go toward a different course of action?

Any bit of information is much appreciated in advanced and if any extra information is needed, please ask away!

Using Rival-S on my daily '90. Don't really get uber-cold weather here. All the 200TW tires last quite a long time in normal driving.

If you're going to beat on it and want tire life in this category of tire, RS-4s last an unbelievably long time.

If you're considering PA Winter driving, well, that's a whole different category.

I'm looking for something with a pretty decent tread rating because of the daily driving, but I'm willing to sacrifice that more for more traction in the rain. Thankfully, the car goes in storage for the late fall/winter, the downfall is that said storage is not heated. I understand just about any extreme summer performance tire should not be kept under freezing temperatures, but is it still safe enough to do for one winter?

I was previously looking at the Proxes R1R's for their overall performance in dry and wet conditions, if that helps put where my head was at before.

I'm a big fan of the Continental Extreme Contact Sport. Great wear, good in rain, and I think there's plenty of grip for the street. There's a 'flash sale' running right now, you can get a set (or some other options are on here) for a pretty good price. Take a look.

I run R1Rs on the turbo car... Decent tire when warmed up. I wouldn't run them in the rain on a daily driver that's for sure.

I was getting wheel spin in 5th in the wet.

Another vote for Conti ECS. I run them on the S2000 DD and they have good grip, are quiet, and incredible in rain.

I like my g-force sport comp-2 tires. Granted, I was a bit limited in my tire choices because of my wheels, but I really don't think I'd switch.

Although a 340 TW, TireRack still cautions against running them below 40F.

• What has been user's experiences?
• Are they OK below that?

I agree with the ECS as well.
I'll put them on anything smaller than a full size truck.
Softer sidewalls that can be damaged but super comfortable, fairly long wearing and when you hammer a curve they respond like a much sticker tire.
I nicknamed then Cheetah Feet...
Often they "balance" with no weights.
Conti uses "segmented mold" technology which allows super precise placement of the rubber and easier balancing...

Those are the questions that I had and would really like some experienced input on.

Those Conti ExtremeContacts are looking more and more appealing. I'll have to bump up to 16's but that's worth it when these tires check all the boxes.

Tire Rack suggests that for pretty much all "Summer" tires. Generally i'd feel comfy running these in nearly any temperature as long as there isn't snow or ice. I've run them well into the bottom 30s with no issues.

You are sticking with 15x7? You won't get a 245 on that.
